Guest guest
, Thank so much for the reply. I think you are the one that is doing a wonderful job for this group! You seem to always know just what to say and what advice to give. I will talk with 's ped. about referring us to an ENT doctor. I really worry about his hearing, although he seems to be hearing fine, but in the long run. I also worry about all the infections and if tubes would help. He deals with so much in his life, I hate him having to deal with these ear infection so frequently. Also, since he is on antibiotics right now, he has SEVERE diaper rash! As if he needs to add anything else to his struggles daily! Ouch! Anyway, they have me using a lotrim cream on his bum since they are thinking it is from the antibiotic and it is like a yeast type infection. Poor little guy. He screams and hollars constantly due to the soreness. Needless to say, I am NOT using wipes on him now, I am using water and a SOFT cloth, but it still hurts. ( What to do!? But, thank you, , for your advice and sense of urgency on this. That's what I was wondering. What would I do without all of you!? Guest guest
Dear Jodi, One thing that can really help with the whole 'yeast vs. antibiotics' thing is yogurt. I don't know if you have a way to feed him any yogurt, since he is tube-fed, but the basic problem that happens with antibiotics is that they kill off good bacteria as well as bad and your gut needs bacteria to function properly. Yogurt has good bacteria called acidophilus. This can really help with the diarhea. I always have to eat lots of yogurt when I am on antibiotics. Good luck!
