Hi Everyone!

I have four LONG weeks to go...lol. I was wondering if anyone has

tried evening primrose and if so, what did you think of it. My

doctor said I could take it to help ripen the cervix. I have read

mixed reviews on the issue....some say it works others say it is

bolonga. I was curious if anyone has tried it.

Also, she told me to drink red raspberry leaf tea. That would help

with the contractions. Anyone had that?

Thanks for all input!

That's because many don't know what it really is or what it really does. =)

EPO doesn't ripen the cervix....what it does is contain a

lot of Gamma-linoleic acid - an essential fatty acid that

your body uses to produce it's own natural

prostiglandins.

does it work? Sure it does...it gives your body the tools

to do what it wants to do. Just like if you're

anemic...taking extra iron isn't the same as taking extra

red blood cells, it's just giving your body the tools to

make the red blood cells that it wants to make. If you

take more iron than needed, your body isn't going to

make extra red blood cells...

and if you already have enough GLA in your diet, then

taking EPO isn't going to do anything...

if you don't normally have enough GLA in your diet,

then taking supplimental EPO will allow your body to

make the prostiglandins that it's wanting to produce..

RRL tea will not cause contractions...it's not a uterine

stimlant. RRL tea is a uterine tonic...

A medicine is something that will effect a body in a

certain way - ie. you take a drug (Pitocin), and it will

affect your body in a specific direction (the muscles of

the uterus to contract whether it wants to or not).

A tonic is something that CENTERS your body. For

example, RRL tea - if you have what's considered an

" irritable uterus " , then RRL tea can calm the uterus

down. If you have what's considered a " lazy uterus " ,

then RRL tea can wake it up some and get it doing what

it's supposed to be doing.

this is why RRL tea is known for both reducing the risk

of miscarriage...as well as encouraging labor if you're

past your EDD...and why it's not contraindicated at any

point in pregnancy.

Those things seem contradictory...until you realize that

RRL tea is a tonic, not a medicine. (then it can make

sense)

RRL tea seems to be one of those love it or hate it

things. I love RRL tea - but some people find it bitter.

It's very healthy for your uterus, though...very healthy.
