Guest guest
I would NOT worry about a pound or 2 since you can lose a pound or 2 or gain it day by day from fluid. i hope your UTI feels better. Guest guest
Afternoon everyone! Its hot and rainy here in Louisiana today, quite the miserable day. I had my docotors appointrment last Wednesday, and my doctor said I had lost a pound, which I thought was cool, but of course he didn't. Well, Saturday night I ended up in the emergency room with terrible stomach and back pains, which turned out to be a UTI infection. Well, today I had to go back to my regular doctor so he could document the emergency room visit, and he almost flipped out when he saw that I had lost another pound and a half since last wedseday. I swear I thought his head was going to explode, the little vein on the side of his neck was pulsing. I told him that I am not dieting, and I think I am eating all the time, along with taking all my supplements. Could the infection be triggering some minor weight loss, or should I just increase my food intake? I don't want to deprive the baby anything at all, and he has me on a 2200 calorie a day diet, but I RARELY am able to get that many in, unless we eat fast food, or at a resturant. Any advice is appreciated Also, I wanted to complain about misinformed folks, the intake nurse that initially saw me at the emergency room, said that he couldn't believe that my doctors would " allow " me to become pregnant, because he said pregnancy is so hard to maintain after gastric bypass. I wanted to smack him and then make him sit there and listen to all the knowledge I have gained on the subject, but instead I just sat there and told him that my doctor thinks everything is fine, and each person is different. You'd think with him being in the health care profession, that he wouldn't pass judgement on things he really had no clue about , but I guess I was wrong Pam RNY Nov 12, 2002 296/166/174 EDD Nov 11, 2004
Guest guest
Dear Pam, I have had 2 sinus infections throughout this pregnancy and both times I lost weight and put it right back on when I was well again. With that said I still have not gained any weight this pregnancy and have actually lost 25 pounds.....My doctor isn't concerned so neither am I.....! As far as misinformed folks....I have run into quite a few of them even at " one of the best hospitals in the world " ......one of them being from an attending ob-gyn in the ER 2 weeks ago who said that women who have gastric bypass have retarded babies. I swiftly corrected him and told him he was wrong and why and where he could get information on just how wrong he is..... Good luck and don't worry your body will take what it needs for the baby!
