Guest guest
Hi all, well we started Growth Hormones on yesterday, I can finally try to relax!! I was so upset in my own ways and emotional, but I feel so relieved now, we went to the Dr's and they had talking with a child life specialist in the room with us while we were doing our training, he was doing great, the lady had a puppet " the size of him " and he liked it, he got to do the puppet's blood pressure and temp, and other things leading up to giving the puppet a shot took over and was using the wipes and wiping off the med's bottle they used, and the had a fake syringe he got mad and said " no if your going to give a shot you need a needle " he is so smart!!! He ended up getting to help with a needle and poke it in the med's bottle and give the puppet a shot, it went great and she explained that he was going to be doing this to like the puppet and to be brave like the puppet!! He said " no I am not getting poked.... well she still did good explaining about how kids are special and some need Grow medicine so they can get bigger of course he said " not me I am Big " !!I knew this would be his answer, well I was trained and ready to give him his shot, I told him he could help and push the button and help...Well that didn't go good at all Daddy was holding him and I did the wipe and then he went hysterical crying " please don't poke me " " do the puppet " well we held him in his daddy's lap I was trying to pich up the skin and he was just a swinging his arms and legs and fighting with us, I did the shot and he still cried .I told him look we are done, he just looked at me said I was mean and then stopped crying and said " you poked me ? Your'e done? " I was like yes!! " He said, well that hurtand then in a sec said, Oh that didn't hurt!! " I told him he was a big boy and well he got over it in 2 sec!!!! Whew that was an experience!! We talked this morning before school and I asked him if he was going to tell the teacher that he is going to be a big boy tonight, he said " yes and I am not going to cry this time'!!! That made me feel so much better today!! I just hope things are going to go well tonight, we are going to get in a routine and do it after his bath, and since he is so into helping I am going to let him!!!! We found out we have to do this shot 6 times a week but get an off day and I think we are going to go with Saturday for this!!! I just wanted to let everyone know how it went and that the adventure is just beginging, thank you all to helped me when I was so worried and depressed!!!I am sure I will have plenty of questions in the future and hope ya'll are here for me as well,as I will be for any of you!! Guest guest
, I'm so glad it went well for you. We've been doing the GH shots for over a week now and things are only getting better. Getting past the initial " unknown " was really the hardest part. Abby seems more mature and wants to take part in more of the process each time. This all still seems pretty unreal, but I guess eventually we will have been doing it so much we won't remember what it was like not to be giving her shots everyday. Guest guest
---Hi well this is neat, at least we are right there together!! has always been a pretty good eater, but if G H makes them eat more then I am gonna be in trouble, lol, He eats(little portions) but doesn't gain any weight!! I am glad your shots are going good to! I just gave his 2nd one a min a go and he didn't take it to well! He screamed at me,and of course called me a meanie!! Lets keep in touch and see how we are doing o.k.? How old is Abby? is 5.When we talked this morning, he said he wasn't going to cry but when reality set in and he saw what was fixing to happen he freaked of course, I think he thought he was only going to get it at the doctors yesterday, I don't know how to get him to understand what everyday means! Well good luck with you and Abby and Hugs to you In RSS- Support , " sherrid2003 " wrote: > , > > I'm so glad it went well for you.
