Guest guest
Such great news!!! If he balks tonight (which can happen during the first couple of weeks), you can always do the reward chart. 2 stars for getting the shot without crying, 1 star for getting the shot even if he cries. Then you figure out a reward system. I am interested in finding out the reasoning behind your doctor letting you do the shot 6 days with 1 day off. I have been doing some reading and there is interesting pros and cons about it all. Almost all of the doctors doing 6 days on 1 day off are only doing that because they say the kids seem to like having " 1 " day off. I haven't found any studies comparing the two. The studies have found that consistent growth hormone every night actually works better than the " random " dosing that used to occur (but random was 2-4 nights a week). But some doctors that use the 6 days do a higher dose, so the " cumulative " weekly dose is still the same as someone getting 7 nightly doses. It will be interesting to see if someone dose a study comparing growth velocities of 7 nights/wk versus 6nights/week. My worry about doing 1 night off is that I would be afraid that would always beg for " just one more night off " -- but I guess if you pick a specific night of the week and always stick to. let's say, Sunday nights, it would become routine. Do any of you out there also do 6 nights a week? On a separate note, for those of you who skip shots, I will tell you that you might want to consider some of the studies looking at cumulative growth hormone. In a nutshell, and I am TOTALLY simplifying this, if your doctor has prescribed a dose that is 7 days a week, and let's say you skip 10% of the shots, your child's growth velocity can predictably be a good proportion BELOW then what a child who does their shot every night. So, it made me realize each night when I am too tired, and think " oh man, why don't I skip tonight " that each time I skip it could be bringing down a notch.... We'll see if this all works out as they do more studies. > Hi all, well we started Growth Hormones on yesterday, I can > finally try to relax!!
