Guest guest
Caroline, those are the Markell shoes (style 1644) that most use. The shoes are not commercially available and are special order, custom fitted shoes usually recommended for atypical clubfoot. Daiga > > I am expecting a baby in a few weeks with bilateral clubfeet. Guest guest
Congratulations on your pregnancy! You are lucky you know about the baby's feet before he/she arrives. Which dr. are you going to see? Those shoes are Markell's. Here is a link to the website. http://www.markellshoe.com/ponsetiflyer.pdf The Sandals look like Birkenstocks. Guest guest
Thanks for the information. We live in CT and are seeing Dr. Thomson. His is not on Dr. Ponseti's " certified " list but we met with him and asked all the important questions and he answered them correctly. He is actually trying to become certified but doesn't have all the pictures of patients that Dr. Ponseti requires yet. He said he met Dr. Ponseti and has his book. We were pretty please with him. Hopefully all will work out. We were surprised about his feet but are glad now that we knew ahead of time and can be as prepared as possible. > > > > I am expecting a baby in a few weeks with bilateral clubfeet. Guest guest
Hello everyone, I just joined this goup today for a specific reason. I do not have a club foot myself, and my children don't have them, but a dear friend of mine's son was born with a club foot on the left side. He just turned two and is doing wonderfully. I bought him a pair of sandals for his birthday, but had to buy two pairs as he wears a size 5 on his left and a 7 on his right. I've looked online about buying shoes, but can't find anything so I thought I'd come to a large group like this to ask... Is there any kind of registry for kids who need two different sized shoes? One where you could post the sizes your child wears and perhaps find a shoe mate of some sort who would like the same shoes? Then each person would only need to buy one pair and they could swap the partners? If there is, could someone please tell me about it so I could pass the information on to my friend? Also, I kept the other sandals - they're around here somewhere but my husband put them away - and would be happy to send them to a toddler who needs them. Sizes right 5, left 7. Thanks for any help you can provide. Milli
Guest guest
Hi Milli, and welcome! I am aware of one registry, though I don't know how many people are involved in it. You can find it at: http://www.bioped.com/solemates.html If you have a Nordstrom's near you, they will split pairs of shoes for you (to make sure that each foot has a well-fitted shoe) at no extra charge. Sure, you're paying a little more for the shoes, but they'll be good ones. I believe that Stride Rite will also give you some kind of a price-break, but this doesn't seem to be a company-wide policy. You may have to haggle with a manager. Good luck! Your friend is lucky to have a friend like you. Guest guest
Milli, This is going to be a very unhelpful answer! But there is a National Shoe Registry type place, where you can send the odd shoes, and recieve shoes. Someone here had posted the address a while back. (Dawn-Marie, I think?) Also, I believe it's Nordstrom's where they will let you split pairs, and only buy the size you need. Hope this helps a little! , mommy of: Guinevere, on & Ava 8/4/04 RCF ABS DBB 18/7 > > > Hello everyone, > I just joined this goup today for a specific reason. Guest guest
Milli, The company Preschoolians will sell your friend a pair of odd-sized shoes for no extra charge- all she will have to do is get a note from the doctor that his feet are different sizes due to a medical condition and fax it to Preschoolians. Their website is www.preschoolians.com and they're most helpful. They also sell shoes from some brick-and-mortar stores. Guest guest
Preschoolians sold me shoes for 2 different sizes without a Doctor's note. I just told them what I needed and they accomodated my request pretty easily. Guest guest
Milli, There is a group called " The One Shoe Crew " that takes odd size shoes and distributes them to their members who need them. Anyone who needs odd size shoes or single shoes can register as a member. Also a good tax write off for you to donate the new odd shoes. I have a couple addresses for them, I'm not sure which one is the most current: The One Shoe Crew 9328 Aizenberg Circle, Elk Grove, CA 95624 E-mail: scooter@... OR Phone: Contact: Sally Tavarez Location P.O. Box 285 Rio , CA 95673 sally_tavarez@... (Email) Thanks, > > > Hello everyone, > I just joined this goup today for a specific reason.
