Guest guest
Hi Laurie! I will certainly hold you in my thoughts and keep you in my prayers. Please tell me more about the new med he prescribed for you and the cramping due to position. As yo know I have an interest in this. By the way my internist prescribed valium for me for the times when my muscles seize (different than the cramps) Thanks. Vivian
Guest guest
this happens with my feet and toes. But it is unlike the seizures I get in my large muscle groups....this seems to happen usually with climate changes/temp changes.....it lasts several days and I am then weak in those muscles. The toes and feet are cramps like a charlie horse....am I making sense? I hope the new med helps and you get some relief! Vivian
Guest guest
Vivian Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Baclofen is considered a muscle relaxent, but it doesn't make you sleepy and works more specifically with the calcium mechanism in the muscle. Your muscles may be like mind from what you describe. If I turn my foot inward, so sole is pointing toward other foot, then the foot and big toe twist and stay that way. I can stop it most times, but it will return if I move at all. The same thing happens in my theighs and hands. Once my hands twist, then I may as well hang up whatever I am doing as they will continue to return with movement. I can force them into a normal position, but they won't stay that way unless I keep them straight in some way. This can last for several hours. The fact that they can be triggered, along with inability to relax them hints at dystonia. I found an article that documents adult on-set dystonia that is connected with a specific complex I gene defect. Our family has this. He is going to look at it in more depth. The article was only the abstract, so he is going to get the entire article and talke with some other docs. I hope you can understand what I mean - I need my body parts to explain, as I am one of those people who talk with their hands. laurie > Hi Laurie! Guest guest
Vivian I think I understand you. I get cramps like charlie horses, but the others put my body in wierd positions that I can't duplicate volunteerily. There was a day that I thought a cramp was a cramp, but now know there are many different kinds. I hope the valium works for you. laurie > this happens with my feet and toes.
