Christal,

Have you tried to empty the capsules into a spoonful of pudding?

This is how my grandaughter (13 months) takes hers.

Hi Gloria,

Welcome. I'm rather new to THIS list also. But so far, its been pretty

great. My daughter is 14 - not quite 29 - although she thinks she is! Are you

also on the concoll list for cf. That is a wonderful place for the olderfolks

with CF. There are many WONDERFUL people on that list too! If Grandma Bev is

reading this, she'd know where to direct you, if not, let me know at

mjg@... and I'll send you a link to join it!

Paige, I'm so glad you posted. 27# is 2-1/2 weeks! Fabulous!!! My surgeon

never gave me liquid pain meds, but Vicodin tabs. I didn't use them, but

they were there. The first couple of weeks, liquid seemed to be difficult,

sort of a like trying to get through a blockage, but that passed. I had a

friend that said cold liquids at first hurt, so she stuck to warm broths and

tea.

Tiredness!!! Goodness yes! I was flying high until it hit, then for a few

days I felt like a wet noodle. It passed, but every once in awhile it comes

back. The way it was explained to me was that the body senses that it's in

starvation mode, and tries to do something about it by sort of shutting down

and conserving energy. Everyone is so different. Some have this in the

beginning, some later. Mine has been pretty short lived. I'm already on

depression medication, so haven't experienced any differences, until before

my period.....then I became really grumpy! The doctors said many do feel

depression. Just go with it, and if it seems to last abnormally long and

pretty strong, see a doctor. Don't apologies for the questions. They're

always welcome.

Yeah, yeah, yeah....finally I got to 35# lost!!!! Yippee, next I venture

into the 230's. Love those new numbers.

hi paige, there's a list of meds to avoid on

gastricbypassfamily.com. what u can take is Tylenol.

everyone is different, the 1st 5 days were hellish, & after day 10

there was no stopping me. i was giddy & elated to have had surgery

after expecting an insurance denial. there were moments of remorse

& pessimism which vanished when my clothes started falling off me.

the fatigue is your system trying to mend itself, it'll pass.

hang in there.

Welcome!

This is a great group! We have all been newcomers at one point and remember the

" blown away " feeling. Feel free to bombard us with questions! I know I had

more than a few.

You may also want to check out the MAGIC foundation. www.magicfoundation.org.

There is a wealth of information available to members and it is only $25.00 to

join. They have a large library of articles about RSS and how to best manage

the symtoms and what to keep an eye out for. They are also the only group that

makes any information available about RSS.

Again, welcome!!

Welcome to this group. I promise you will learn so much here.

Really, if you go back through some of the other posts, you will see

what entails RSS. I am fairly new to the RSS thing as well.

was just confirmed to have RSS at the end of October. So, here I am

trying to learn as much as possible. So, once again, welcome to this

group and I am glad to have you here.

Take care,

HI AMY: My surgeon belongs to the group that is headed by Dr

Carrasquilla who was the first one to perform the

laparoscopic Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass in the State of Florida, and

he created one of the techniques currently used to do this surgery.

Currently he is teaching other surgeons and hospitals on Obesity

Laparoscopic Surgery. Im told the tool is one that cuts the stomach

and staples both sides at the same time. I wasnt aware laser was

used for this procedure. I had six small incisions, one closed with

1 staple, 1 with 2 staples, 3 with 3 staples and 1 with 6 staples.

These small incisions are for insertion of camera, air to expand the

abdomen and long small instruments to perform the procedure.

I hope this helps.

Pat

> HI PAT: I agree this it the best group out there.1 question if you

don't mind.I am having lap bypass done [hopefully] and i was

wondering do they do this procedure with laser or a scalpel? thank

you AMY....

Kellee,

Regardless of what anyone else is doing (I know there are some people that

do both) you really need to check with your surgeon and ob. Some vitamins in

too high a dosage can be toxic while others are water soluble. It depends on

your levels of vitamins as to whether or not you should take more than just

a prenatal. Good luck hon!

Remember group -- medical treatment information should be discussed with

YOUR personal medical people -- we can only speak in generalities here.

WEelcome - I know you cannot help being a little scared nbut

try to relax and know that you have every chance to have a healthy

pregnancy this soon out. I accidently got pregnant at 5.5 months and

everything has gone so smoothly. There are some women who got

pregnant with in a couple of weeks of their surgery and a couple who

were actually pregnant at the time of their surgery and they have all

have healthy babys. What ever you are wondering about ask away but

also communicate well with your doctor. Good luck - Diane

Most people, perhaps because they are numb, do not have a lot of

pain, and what there is is generally controlled by morphine

immediately post op, then by something like Lortab, and then by

something like Tylenol or Ibuprofen. It's amazing, but true.

I don't know about the skin. That's a question for your surgeon. I do

know that some folks have had liposuction under the chin during the

op, but that doesn't seem to be a concern for you. Ask your doc.
