Guest guest
I have a dear friend who's 11 year old son is ADHD and on Ritalin. He really needs it! He does terribly without it. She has struggled so much with finding support in school for him and has switched schools many times. He is extremely bright, beautiful child! But he can wear me out when we're over there for dinner, LOL! My heart goes out to anyone dealing with this! Especially to you, Amy, because you've been dealt 3 blows...ADHD, autism, and bipolar disorder. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Hugs, H, mom to 3 yrs, PDD; and 23 months, NT
Guest guest
I totally agree with . And no one intends to OFFEND ANYONE on this list! We all care about each other. I think what people meant about ANTI-Ritalin was to try other items first (such as dietary intervention) Sometimes dietary intervention works vs. having to do ritalin. Hugs and take care A jeffs mom Re: regarding ADHD and ritalin, etc....PLEASE READ I have a dear friend who's 11 year old son is ADHD and on Ritalin. He really needs it! He does terribly without it. Guest guest
THank you and ~ I know no one meant to offend, that is why I have gotten over it. But I did think it is important to point out not to make broad, militant generalizations about dissabilities in general. Let's all remember that every situation and every child is different. Let's not be just like those gaukers and opinionated strangers we all hate who have a solution for a problem they don't understand. Let's not assume we know. I know that people here are supportive, I am not angry, just wanted to point that out. ON THE OTHER HAND....who I AM angry at is my Pediatrician who has told me (no joke) that she does not have " more time to devote to researching autism " since she only has 6 kids in her practice who have it. Then she calls me and wonders why I am calling other doctors seeking referrals for services! My answer: I am doing YOUR job! Amy M
Guest guest
I think the problem most people have with the idea of Ritalin is that it is so widely over used in children who don't need it. Teachers push parents to put kids on a magic pill rather than find out what the underlying problem is, and it is not always ADHD. I am sure it is a wonderful medication for those who need it, my daughter did not do well on it at all. I also agree with , no one here is trying to offend anyone. Please remember when you are reading something it may come across a little differently than what the person intended, don't take personal opinions as an attack on someone else's judgment. We are all doing the best we can to do the very best for our children and that does not lead to the same road for all of us. > I totally agree with . When we had our diagnosis for only 4 weeks, we took her to our regular pediatrician and it was clear even then that we already knew more about autism then him! I guess we are forced to become experts in this! H
