Didn't know if you thought of this or not but I did a search under and

Knoble for IEPs, the libary may have the books too.

Here are some names of books that talk about getting the most out of your

meeting.

Complete IEP Guide Houw to Advocate for your Special Ed Child by Lawerence

Siegel there are two copies Jan 2001 and 2004 $19.99

How well Does IEP Measure Up Quality Indicators for Effective Service Delivery

$23.96

Writing Measurable IEP Goals and Objectives $17.50

Sorry I forgot to add the authurs on the last two books.

Judith/Jodi Z. - summer school

Judith and Jodi:

Judith....I saw your post regarding both and Becca being

approved for summer school. I was wondering how tough this was to

get approved. I think Jake would really benefit from it, but last

week when we were doing Jake's annual IEP, they handed us the

brochure (as they must, by law) and sort of glazed over it

saying " not that he needs it. "

That being said, I have to really admit I hate the whole IEP

process. I never feel we get quite as much as I hope for, and

always feel " uneducated " in how to correctly maneuver the system.

Did you have to put up a big fight, or was it a forgone conclusion

for them? When I called for more info. on summer school, they said

we needed to prove that he would lose too much ground or that he is

on the verge of an emerging skill.

Jodi....any advice here....you are the expert? Jake's focus at

special ed preschool is: OT (horrible in this area), PT, behavioral

issues (he will play beside other kids, but not " with " them; if

there is some activity going on in class that he doesn't like he

just won't participate; doesn't really like to try new things.)

Should I push for summer school?

Maloy and Alison,

Maloy, great idea about the books. You are a GREAT source of

written info! I love it when you email me about the new things you

find.

Alison, I do have the goals and objectives for preschool thru at

least grade three. My school only goes up to grade three. If you

want a copy of the preschool-age objectives for math, reading, LA,

behavior, etc., I can easily make a copy and send them to you. Let

me know.

Hi Jodi,

Would it be possible to get a copy of the preschool goals and objectives you

mentioned to Alison. I was speaking with Jordan's teacher who stated that

Jordan was only approved for a 10 month program and that summer was not

recommended. She said he's doing OK in school - he sits and does his work. But

I find

the opposite at home. He can't sit still to do any school work. The one

thing we agree on though is his behavior/social skills which need work. I would

appreciate any advice you have.
