Guest guest
well this was grace's first weekend with her dad... we are seperated and she is to stay with him every other saturday night... it was almost too painful to bare... but i made it through and didn't cry too awful much... i forced myself to go to walmart after dropping her off so i had to keep my self together and not fall apart at home.. so that really helped.. except i spent and bought more than i ever would have... so i am not sure that was such a good idea in the end... lol... but when i picked her up sunday morning and got her home... i looked at her braces and noticed that her toes were a lot further " in " that normal... i couldn't really see them at the end of her shoes... so i took them off and checked her heels and she had a red line on each heel... the skin wasn't broken yet but was close... so i gave her a bath and let her have some free time for a few minutes and put them back on correctly and this morning the red line was much better... when i mentioned it to him amd told him i wanted us to put them on together again so to avoid that he said the line was already there when he got her... and i asked him why he didn't call me and he said he didn't think it was that big of a deal... i am a little upset because she has not had a SINGLE red spot or blister or pressure sore or anything since we have been using the Dobb's Brace till now... i have even made comments that i don't think it's possible to get sores with his brace design... so i guess i will go ahead and show him again,... i know he just didn't flatten her foot down while strapping it in...and i even called back later to remind him to do that... so i am a little frustrated... and just needed to vent... thanks for listening... mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 23/
Guest guest
At least on the bright side of things, it sounds like he was keeping the shoes on her feet! It's better than him just taking them off altogether and being lazy I suppose.... But how frustrating for you! You don't have to worry about it again for another 2 weeks it sounds like. Guest guest
Hi , I just wanted you to know that I really feel for what you are going through, not just the divorce but the heart-wrenching difficulties of splitting your daughter's time like this. For the shoes, have you marked a line for where her toes should reach? maybe this will help show him how much he needs to push down on the knee to get those feet flat. Just a thought. hang in there & keep us posted, First Weekend with Her Dad well this was grace's first weekend with her dad... we are seperated and she is to stay with him every other saturday night... it was almost too painful to bare... but i made it through and didn't cry too awful much... i forced myself to go to walmart after dropping her off so i had to keep my self together and not fall apart at home.. so that really helped.. except i spent and bought more than i ever would have... so i am not sure that was such a good idea in the end... lol... but when i picked her up sunday morning and got her home... i looked at her braces and noticed that her toes were a lot further " in " that normal... i couldn't really see them at the end of her shoes... so i took them off and checked her heels and she had a red line on each heel... the skin wasn't broken yet but was close... so i gave her a bath and let her have some free time for a few minutes and put them back on correctly and this morning the red line was much better... when i mentioned it to him amd told him i wanted us to put them on together again so to avoid that he said the line was already there when he got her... and i asked him why he didn't call me and he said he didn't think it was that big of a deal... i am a little upset because she has not had a SINGLE red spot or blister or pressure sore or anything since we have been using the Dobb's Brace till now... i have even made comments that i don't think it's possible to get sores with his brace design... so i guess i will go ahead and show him again,... i know he just didn't flatten her foot down while strapping it in...and i even called back later to remind him to do that... so i am a little frustrated... and just needed to vent... thanks for listening... mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 23/
Guest guest
Hi lisa, i just read your post and wish i could give you a BIG HUG! hang in there, you know i do the same when i get very upset for some reason i want to spend $$. i know its not a good thing but im glad you feel better. i cant imagine how you felt being away from grace, so sorry. i dont know if i am way out of my league when i say try to be patient. you know it was the 1st weekend for them and maybe he didnt think the redness was that important. i say this because i am the one who always puts samantha's brace on. i have showed my dh but he cant seem to do it right. well when went on vacation a couple of weeks ago i asked him to put it and when morning came she had a BLISTER on the side of her foot! Oh i was sooo mad! i told him and showed him her foot. needless to say he wont be doing that anymore. is it a guy thing or what? dont mean to offend any dads on the group who KNOW how to put the brace on correctly but i guess since they dont do it very often maybe? i speak for my dh anyways. maybe now that it happened and you pointed it out he will see how serious it is. was she restless at all with him? well gald to hear she is back with mommy and is ok. sorry i have not had time to send ya pictures of my 2 little pumkins just been a little busy but i wll send you some, you 2 take now. and BL CF 12/16/03 > > well this was grace's first weekend with her dad... we are seperated > and she is to stay with him every other saturday night... it was > almost too painful to bare... but i made it through and didn't cry > too awful much... i forced myself to go to walmart after dropping > her off so i had to keep my self together and not fall apart at > home.. so that really helped.. except i spent and bought more than i > ever would have... so i am not sure that was such a good idea in the > end... lol... but when i picked her up sunday morning and got her > home... i looked at her braces and noticed that her toes were a lot > further " in " that normal... i couldn't really see them at the end of > her shoes... so i took them off and checked her heels and she had a > red line on each heel... the skin wasn't broken yet but was close... > so i gave her a bath and let her have some free time for a few > minutes and put them back on correctly and this morning the red line > was much better... when i mentioned it to him amd told him i wanted > us to put them on together again so to avoid that he said the line > was already there when he got her... and i asked him why he didn't > call me and he said he didn't think it was that big of a deal... i > am a little upset because she has not had a SINGLE red spot or > blister or pressure sore or anything since we have been using the > Dobb's Brace till now... i have even made comments that i don't > think it's possible to get sores with his brace design... so i guess > i will go ahead and show him again,... i know he just didn't flatten > her foot down while strapping it in...and i even called back later > to remind him to do that... so i am a little frustrated... and just > needed to vent... thanks for listening... > > mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 23/

Guest guest
Oh ! I had so hoped and prayed that Grace's first weekend with Dad would go smoothly for her...I knew that it wouldn't for you, although I hoped it would. Most mommies just can't be without their babies at that age. Dylan is 5 now and I hate it when he spends the night with Grandma! I do think that you should follow 's advice and mark the shoes where her toes go but I would take it one step further and also mark the buckles and laces when they are on properly so that he can see how tight they should be. This is what the orthotist did for me when Ethan was in the Markells and it help tremendously. I do have one question though, I see that Grace is still in the brace 23/7...I don't know what time you take her to him on Saturday but maybe it would be possible for you to bathe her and give her the free hour before she leaves? That way he would have no reason to take the shoes off. Might not work once her hours are reduced, but it could work in the meantime. Cuddle that baby and spend all the time in the world with her...hopefully the next Saturday will be better...I promise you will make it even if your checking acct doesn't!! Guest guest
Wow, that stinks. I guess the next time it's his turn to do this thing, take a photo of her feet with a camera or video with that day's newspaper next to her feet for proof of the date and have a witness if you can swing it - then show the EX (aka, it) her actual feet that will be (of course) totally free of any red marks and tell IT if there is so much as a mosquito bite you'll own him. OK, I'm a little hostile, but that's my experience with the whole exassholeImean ex husband routine. s. well this was grace's first weekend with her dad... we are seperated and she is to stay with him every other saturday night... it was almost too painful to bare... but i made it through and didn't cry too awful much... i forced myself to go to walmart after dropping her off so i had to keep my self together and not fall apart at home.. so that really helped.. except i spent and bought more than i ever would have... so i am not sure that was such a good idea in the end... lol... but when i picked her up sunday morning and got her home... i looked at her braces and noticed that her toes were a lot further " in " that normal... i couldn't really see them at the end of her shoes... so i took them off and checked her heels and she had a red line on each heel... the skin wasn't broken yet but was close... so i gave her a bath and let her have some free time for a few minutes and put them back on correctly and this morning the red line was much better... when i mentioned it to him amd told him i wanted us to put them on together again so to avoid that he said the line was already there when he got her... and i asked him why he didn't call me and he said he didn't think it was that big of a deal... i am a little upset because she has not had a SINGLE red spot or blister or pressure sore or anything since we have been using the Dobb's Brace till now... i have even made comments that i don't think it's possible to get sores with his brace design... so i guess i will go ahead and show him again,... i know he just didn't flatten her foot down while strapping it in...and i even called back later to remind him to do that... so i am a little frustrated... and just needed to vent... thanks for listening... mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 23/
Guest guest
i got rear ended this weekend while making a turn onto another road... and the guy told the officer that i just all of a sudden stopped without giving a turn signal or anything.. i was little out of sorts but was so mad because i knew i always use my blinker... the officer turned around and noticed my blinker was still on... i thought that was kind of funny... THAT IS AWESOME!!!! I love it!!! It's nice to know that jerks don't always get away with it! Some guy rear-ended my brother on the interstate, and claimed my brother suddenly jumped into his lane! He got away with it too, and the insurance companies split it 50/50, making my bro's insurance go up--SO FRUSTRATING!!! , mommy of: Guinevere, on, Ava 8/4/
