Guest guest
Kim, I think you are smart for sticking to your guns on this one. You Go Momma! However, the shoes are made for smaller, atypical feet. I believe it was the Markell company that was working on bigger shoes. You might contact them to find out. I suppose you could also contact () about bigger shoes but I don't know if he could do that for you or not. Also, you might contact a shriners to see what they can offer you. Good luck and let us know how it goes! Chris 3 year old-questions, questions, questions! Hi everyone! My son Jaren who turned 3 today is still in his brace at night. He was treated since birth with a " modified " Ponseti method-the dr. kept him in the brace 23/7 until he was walking. (Dr. P did see my son when he was 11 months old-he said he looked great.) Our dr. said about 6 months or so ago that he could stop wearing the brace; that Jaren's foot looked great, no probs, etc. I still wanted him to wear the brace so I got the dr. to prescribe another set of shoes. The lab guy said that this was the biggest set of shoes he could get, and now they are too small. I know I posted before about bigger shoes and someone replied about I believe it was the shoe. Can anyone give me more info about this? I know the dr. was not too happy the last time I asked for bigger shoes because he said they were not necessary, and I told him about the recent findings in IA about older children relapsing. Am I being overprotective by wanting him to stay in the shoes? Could I possibly be doing him more harm than good? I know I need to make another appt. with our dr. because Jaren has recently started to kind of limp on his right foot (clubfoot). He says it doesn't hurt or anything, but I am concerned. His foot does not seem to be turning in or anything, but he is still walking kind of goofy-he doesn't do it all the time either. He runs fine-it's just the walking sometimes. Anyway, if someone can arm me with some good info for some bigger shoes I will feel better when we see the doc. Thanks! -Kim Jaren 4/18/02 uni cf

Guest guest
Sorry, I disagree. I think the /Ponseti shoes are being pegged on this group for Atypical feet but that is not the set in stone rule. Dr. Ponseti recommends them completely now for every cf due to their fit and comfort, not just Atypical. s. However, the shoes are made for smaller, atypical feet. That's the impression I got from my doc too...Dr. P is recommending s for everyone. My daughter was originally going to be fitted for them (she's not atypical...I guess you could call her typical CF!).
