Guest guest
Looks like they could all use the diet and one of them maybe just casein. Are you going to do it?? I need to test my NT child as well for peptides and mercury. I gthink it has expressed itself differently in her--asthma and alleries--but she endured the same assualts. So while she is brilliant and social, she also may not be functioning right inside anymore--mercury does lovely things to the immune sys. Lots to think about and like you said SOOOOOOO much money. Good luck, Re: Peptide test results > I have had my 3 sons tested: > > (very normal, 4.0 avg in school) Casomorphin 23.5, gliadorphin 88.8 > (PDD-NOS) Caso 17.9, gliadorphin 11.5 (after a year on the gfcf diet) > (ADD a little) casomorphin 89.6, gliadorphin 14.8. > > So the boys are all vastly different! Guest guest
Hello List, We got the results of our gluten and casein urinary peptide test about 2 weeks ago. They were: Casomorphin (Milk) 192.4 Normal is less than 2.5 Gliadorphin (Wheat) >200 Normal is less than 20 The doctor we are using said they were the highest he had ever seen. Since we are using a Dr. that is not experienced in treating autistic kids I didn't think much about his comment. However, the more I think about it the more concerned I become. I have made an appointment to talk to Great Plains Lab about the results on Thursday. I wanted to know before I talked to them just how common such readings are. What kind of results have those of you that have had the test from great plains seen? Have any of you all seen numbers this high? Could such high numbers mean more that just eliminating gluten and casein? Thanks for your help. Guest guest
Bill, I also am eager to hear others test results. According to Great Plains my son's results were considered " moderately high " . They were: 55 for Casomorphin and about 75 for Gliadorphin. We were told the diet was definately worth trying even if the levels were moderate. They also told me they saw levels much higher than my son's all the time, and often these young children with very high levels had the most dramatic results on the diet. Guest guest
Hi, Those number are very high from numbers that I have seen. Hope that you have a doctor who knows all about this stuff. If you don't, perhaps Kirkman Labs could recommend one, although they may have a policy against that type of referral. Good luck and I know that gfcf diet should only help your son in a tremendous way! Felicia
Guest guest
We haven't done the Great Plains test, but we did the blood test through U of Fla to look for the offenders (!) and our results were also dramatically off the scale. Our little guy had 15000 for the casein test (normal 100), and 3000 for the gluten test (normal 100). I know that there is still more that's wrong, and that's why we're continuing to investigate. We just learned that his yeast was also overgrown, and we're going to look further in the company that does the biological investigation that was recently discussed... Guest guest
we were told by the U of Fla guys that it would be up to a year after the diet began before the results would be skewed and you might not see good results... lynn in MD
Guest guest
We just got our results back yesterday from the Great Plains Lab. (14 months old), who has not been diagnosed, scored as follows: Casomorphin (Milk) 190.3 Normal is < 2.5 Gliadorphin (Wheat) 50.3 Normal is < 20 So, we're in the same ballpark as far as the Caso level. The funny thing is, he reacts 100 times worse if he has a wheat infringement than if he has a milk infringement. __________________________________________________
