Big fat bummer! I certainly thought that such a simple list of

ingredients would be safe. Potato's, oil and salt. And my son ate a

ton of these yesterday. :-(

I got a recorded message when I called that stated only the nut butters

can be concidered GFCF. Then I went to the web site:

http://www.kettlefoods.com/ketus/fraprod.htm

Which stated:

Wheat Free and Gluten Free

All Kettle™ Roaster Fresh® Nut Butters are 100% Gluten Free and Wheat

Free. They are produced entirely from ingredients that do not contain

any wheat or gluten. This includes our Almond Butter, Cashew Butter,

Hazelnut Butter, Sunflower Butter, Sesame Butter, and OG Peanut Butter.

Kettle™ Tortilla Chips are wheat free but are not gluten free. Two

flavors contain rye, buckwheat, or barley which contain gluten, and

there is the possibility there could be trace amounts in the other

flavors.

Kettle™ Crisps Baked Potato Chips, Kettle™ Chips and Kettle™ Handcrafted

Quality Nuts cannot be considered gluten or wheat free. Some of the

seasonings used in certain flavors, and coatings on some of the nuts,

contain small amounts of wheat and there is a possibility that there

could be trace amounts of wheat in other flavors. ... "

The package of Crinkle Cut Kettle Chips (lightly salted) says:

" Every effort has been made to disclose commonly known allergens. Other

ingredients, present at levels less than 2%, may not be listed. Please

contact us with questions. We are continually improving our

ingredients. "

It seems to me that their 'effort' to disclose ingredients of commonly

known allergens on their ingredient list is somewhat lacking. I'm going

to call them and tell them as much. Maybe their " commitment to

continually improve ingredients " will be effected and they will stop

cross contamination. Maybe.... it won't hurt to ask, right? :-)
