Guest guest
My abbreviated history: I started having problems at age 16. Onset of menses was at age 12. As soon as I ovulated, I developed severe abdominal pain, on occasion making me lose consciousness. It ceased about 24 hours before onset of menses. I was on BC pills which elininated the pain. Once I tried to become pregnant (long before mito was even diagnosed) the pain returned. When I did not become pregnant after a year of trying I saw a fertility specialist who put me on a drug to induce ovulation. The pain became even worse. It was accompanied by a generalized rash. The severity of the rash was related to the severity of the pain. About 6 weeks into my first pregnancy the pain and rash disappeared. By 12 weeks I started having complications including toxemia for which I was hospitalized. My daughter was 6 weeks premature. My second pregnancy follwed a similar pattern. After my second pregnancy I ceased having problems. Menopause was in my mid 60s. No reproductive problems since then. My children were born in my mid 30s. I am now 64. My daughter is on BC pills. She recently had a uterine polyp removed. When she was still in college she was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance with severe abdominal pain. The ER thought at first it might be a tubal pregnancy but was not. Just pain similar to mine. She is now in her early 30s. a
