Hi all..my son is seeing an orthopedic surgeon and he wants to do leg

lenghtening in a fiew years. My son is 5, 26lbs, 37 inches and has a

2.8 cm discrepency in his legs. Has anyone ever under gone this?

Dear ,

You could probably find lots of counsel on this on another listserve

on Yahoo called 'Dwarfism'. It is a controversial subject there,

since it is used on Achondroplastic dwarfs to bring them up to

average height. There are people on that list who have chosen to use

the procedure. I also suspect if you signed on to Parents of Little

People 2, you could get answers, as well.

- I have the name of a mother whose 16 year old son just

underwent the surgery. Unfortunately, as many people have found, it

is an extremely painful and very long-process surgery & recovery.

So, on that note, I am not sure that Curtis, the son, is very

positive abot the surgery right now -- he may be in 3-6 months when

the pins are done being tightened and they are out, etc. His mom is

very willing to talk to anyone, so email me privately if you would

like to correspond with her.
