recurring abdominal infection

I read another recent post from someone who had to take antibiotics

for abdominal pain and since I have wanted to ask this for some time,

I thought I would ask it now, not being sure if it is the same thing

however.

I first had what they thought was diverticulitis about nine months

ago. I had been sick like it before but this time it was horrific

pain so I went in and my blood count was quite high so they thought

it was that. They took some basic xrays but nothing more. I got

better with the antibiotic but it reoccured two more times in the

next six months. The second time, again they just prescribed

antibiotics but the third time I had a different ER doctor who ran an

abdominal CT which turned out to be normal. He said that my blood

count again was quite high but thought there would be some signs of

diverticulitis if that is what is really was on the CT. Besides the

fact that my pain site was nowhere near where diverticulitis usually

strikes. So, he didn't think that was the right diagnosis.

There were no gallstones, ovarian cysts or other abnormalities either

though and since it still appeared I had an infection and was in a

lot of pain, they treated me again with antibiotics and again, I am

improved but am afraid it will happen again.

I am starting to wonder now if this could be mito related and if so,

what is happening? Does anyone else experience this or something

similar? I know that I don't digest food as quickly as others

because sometimes I can feel it getting almost " stuck " in there but

eventually everything seems to make it's way out.

Could be that it is not related at all which is possible but what

other explanation could there be. Thanks for any info you may have.

I think this could be mito related (I'm just a patient, not a doc).

Going back about 35 years, I was thought to have gall bladder disease

due to pain after many tests, but no gall stones. I have been through

the testing for GI problems many many times. I have dysmotility issues

and use to feel constipated. If I vomited (rare) pills would come out

as they had gone in several hours before, including writing on them.

My stomach was not functioning properly. I no longer have any severe

pain and put up with the other. My son use to get severe abdominal

pain. Each time they took an X-ray, he was full of gas and stool. They

would send him home with a laxative. It turned out he had dysmotility.

He also had abdominal migraines.

I've had recurring abdominal infections and several colonoscopies. All they

see is that my colon is " a little bit red " . I know, from a previous surgery

the doc told me that everything in my abdominal cavity was red. I have

adhesions everywhere. Adhesions are caused by infections and can cause pain

Make sure you take acidophilus during and after using an antibiotic and at

anytime you feel an infection coming on. In fact, it might be a good idea

to make acidophilus a part of your every day use. Acidophilus stimulates

the growth of " friendly bacteria " in your intestinal tract. Do a google on

acidophilus to see what benefit it may give your poor intestines. Taking it

you'll have fewer digestive problems, especially with people like us, who

take fist fulls of pills a day...just a friendly suggestion.

Blessings,
