Guest guest
Hi I have been reading all the posts from the group for the last 16 weeks, ever since we found out that our baby had a club foot at our 18 week ultrasound. this is our 9th child, our second child (she is now 14 and a great athlete) was born with bilateral clubfeet and not knowing of any other options we had it corrected with surgrey. with this child we wanted to see what else was out there in treament opitions since it had been a while. When we came across this group and read everthing we could about the method we knew this is the way we want to go. We have even been in touch with Dr. Poncetti. We were set to make the trip to Iowa from detroit even if it ment some time way from the kids because we want the best for this child. However my water broke at30 weeks and I have been in the hospital for the last month. needless to say it has been very trying on my husband and kids. I gave birth to ababy boy this past sunday. Because he was 51/2 weeks early he will have to stay in the hospital alittle longer than normal but we do want to get his treatment underway. since I have spent so much time away from the family Ifeel I must look at more local doctors for our son. Detroit is just about equal distance from Grand Rapids and Cleveland Ohio. Iwas wondering if anyone out there has any experiance with either Dr. in Grand Rapids or the Dr. that practices out of Rainbow Babies Childrens Hospital in Cleveland. We would be very greatful for any information about these doctors. Thank You, Leah
Guest guest
I see Dr. Maples in Grand Rapids. She has studied under Dr. Ponsetti and is working on compiling the needed information to send into Dr. Ponsetti to be labeled " Ponsetti certified " and listed on his website. She is actually using my son in her portfolio. She is wonderful and is located at Freebed Rehabilitation Hospital. My husband and I really, really like her. I also have a friend that had a baby with bcf a month before us that started going to her after I suggested it, since they didn't like the doctor they were seeing. I know that she will meet with you before she starts treatment to go over the procedure. She is great at explaining things. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I can also send pictures of my son's foot and how it looks. hope this helps. angie Porter Crystal Elementary Resource Room
Guest guest
Leah, My name is Carolyn and my son Bruce was born with bilateral clubfeet in November of 2002. We go to Children's Hospital in Detroit to Dr. Mendelow. He follows the ponseti method right down to the bracing time. He is a wonderful doctor and we have had a great experience with him. He has been using the ponseti method for many years. As to why he is not on Dr. Ponseti's list, I can't say why, but he is very good and he even goes over to other countries where treatment is not available to treat children with clubfeet. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact me. Guest guest
My son (17 mon) sees Dr Craig at University of Michgan. Dr Craig also used Ponseti method for my son's treatment, althrough I have to say he might not follow the method 100%, however my son has responded very well to Dr Craig's treatment, and his feet are perfectly corrected by Dr Craig. > > > Hi I have been reading all the posts from the group for the last 16 > weeks, ever since we found out that our baby had a club foot at our > 18 week ultrasound. this is our 9th child, our second child (she is > now 14 and a great athlete) was born with bilateral clubfeet and not > knowing of any other options we had it corrected with surgrey. with > this child we wanted to see what else was out there in treament > opitions since it had been a while.
