Anyone have trouble with lydocaine?

I need to have a mole removed. My Dr. won't do it until I am allergy

tested to see that I don't have any problems with the lydocaine. I

wonder if anyone has experienced any problems? Thanks Carmen

I had to go through the allergy testing. It turned out that I was

allergic to the preservative and not the lidocaine or other local

anesthesia. I have to be sure preservative free is used. Preservative

free is more commonly found now than it use to be. I've read lots of

fine print on bottles. I had to have a cortisone shot in my wrist with

any, because my ortho didn't have any preservative free - I won't do

that again.

The allergy testing didn't take long, but it was another appointment.

I'm allergic to a preservative in novacaine so have to

be very careful. I'm prone to systemic reactions.

I recall reading that lidocaine is ok but NOT lidocaine with epinepherine. I

always tell the docs to hold the epi.
