Guest guest
I have a 5 year old daughter who has these emotional swings which sounds like what your daughter is having. My daughter is very, very headstrong and opionated but has these times where she is just the opposite. I think this is just a phase and she will be fine. That will be you... This is what I have been doing wiht my kids and they seem to really like the idea of being a BIG brother sister. I also got them Big brother/sister tshirts to wear to the hospital to see the baby for the first time and i will take a nice pic of them all together with them on holding the baby sop i can put it in the babies book after. i found the shirts new on ebay. Guest guest
I have taken my son shopping and let him pick out things for his brother. I have also purchased some special things for him (he loves rescue heroes) and put them away for when people bring presents after the baby. We also purchased a special toy for him from the baby. I told him when the baby comes out he will be bringing him a present.. I also have been taking to the movies and doing some special things with just us. When we see babies I point out to him that the baby is nice and quiet or see that big sister or big brother with their baby. That will be you... Our son keeps telling me that the baby is coming in 2 days....but thus far he has been wrong! Good luck! Chrystal Wife to Jace - together 6 Years! Happy Mommy to - 4 Years Old! Guest guest
This is my second (vital) pregnancy so I have no idea if it'll be beneficial, but it's what my husband and I are doing to help for a smooth transition of Trent (now 6) becoming the Big Brother. We are allowing him to take pictures (or ask for one to be taken) of him doing special things this summer. We told him that he can show the baby all the cool things that it'll do when he/she gets older. Trent just started a one-summer daycamp and that is giving him loads of ideas. He's already made comments about telling the baby all about the field trips and being dropped off with a teacher: " So him doesn't get scared. " He's also made comments about wanting to share situations/pictures with the baby... " Don't tell Mamma...I want to tell him. " A friend of mine recently had a problem with her daughter and prepping the nursery. She got some foam sheets from the craft store and cut matts out of them. It doesn't look like a professional job by a landslide, but her daughters artwork is hanging in the nursery. It really made her feel like she was a part of the painting and stuff. Good luck!
