Guest guest
Hi - Thats great that you got to hear the heartbeat!! Isnt that the best? I had the AFP testing done in early May, and like you I didnt know what to do about it. I didnt want to get it because of the false positives. I actually know of quite a few people that it came back positive and they worried the rest of the pregnancy only to have a healthy baby! Also, if the test comes back positive, I was certainly NOT going to abort. That wasnt even a question. So, then why have it done? Well, if it comes back negative then its a relief. But, if it comes back positive, doesnt the baby deserve additional testing? Ultimately I decided that it wasnt about my feelings anymore. That I had to do what I felt was right for the baby. If it came back positive then he needed all the additional testing that I could give him. This is a tough choice, and I battled with it for weeks. I can honestly say now that its over, and it came back negative that I am glad that I did it. Maybe someone who had it come back positive could give you their view. Hope this helps, and sorry its so long........................... and remember, its only my opinion. Everyone is different!!! -
