Does anyone know what to do if the connection between the shoe plate and the

bar starts to loosen/wiggle? It's the part where the " teeth " fit together...

on a non adjustable bar I believe...

Thanks in advance... Best, Joanne W.

Joanne, it's funny that you should mention this because Owen's (on

both plates) has just started doing this in the last couple of

weeks. Nick took it apart last night thinking that he'd be able to

tighten it up but discovered that there isn't any 'easy' way to do

it. I just mentioned tonight as we were putting Owen's brace on him

before bed that I may take it into our orthotics guy and ask if he

can tighten it up somehow...I think that if a washer was fit into

that space, it may help a little.

Let me know if you figure anything out and I'll do the same.

P.S. - Owen's is the red adjustable bar - the plates are the same as

the non-adjustable I think.

new bar, and perhaps sole plate too but the teeth on the bar are probably

the ones that are damaged. They come with sole plate's I believe

anyway. The aluminum teeth start to strip on those sometimes. Nothing

else can be done about it. Darbi wore one out and that was about the time

I stopped taking her shoes off the bar so it didn't happen again.

Joanne, Daiga,

Here's what my husband recommends: take the shoe/s off the bar and push several

small pieces of heavy-duty tin foil down through the bolt. Make sure that the

pieces of tin foil will cover the round piece at the base of the bolt. Put the

shoe back on the bar, tighten up the nut. The tin foil will fill those gaps

between the bar and the bolt-base where the teeth are stripped. The

heavy-dutier the foil, the longer it will last. I'm not sure how the red bar is

set up, but this works well with the gold bar.

Hope this helps. I never thought having a philosophy professor hanging around

would be so handy...
