Guest guest
Okay, here's my question of the day. I'm sure it's been answered before a million times, so I'm sorry for being repeptitive. How is my 4.5 month old slipping his clubfoot out of his shoe??? His good foot has not slipped out once. Today is the 2nd time in a week and a half that he managed to get his cf foot out. Why? Why? I'm putting them on tight. Should I go even tighter? I've noticed that he is haveing much better dorsiflexion these days. It doesn't hurt him or stiffen up when I stretch his foot and place it flat and stretch his achilles tendon. I don't know what to do... Should I move the tongue higher up on the foot or keep it lower like the tips suggested? I can't believe he has managed to do this! I know even more amazing feats with the FAB are to come, but we're still newbies... Thanks in advance for your help! rt cf 12/15/04 FAB 23/7 __________________________________________________
Guest guest
, I think it is supposed to be harder for them to get their foot out if you have the tongue lower because you can snug up the laces around their ankle more. I would say that if the strap can be tighter, make it so. As long as that foot is seated properly in the shoe with the heel down and back I don't think there is such a thing as too tight. HTH. Guest guest
Okay, I put it on the 5th hole of the buckle (it's usually on the 3rd or 4th) and tied the the laces super-tight. So, we'll see what happens. Is there a chance that he may have lost correction, and THAT'S why he's slipping out? While we are good about keeping them on, I'll admit we've gone 2 hours a day without them pretty often. Once we even went 3 hours. I know, I'm a bad mommy. Guest guest
could be bar length too. Make sure to check that as it'll help pull the heel out if it's too short or too long. Guest guest
Our daughter was also slipping out, and we took the shoes in and they added a pad of rubber inside the shoe at the back. it seemed to help Re: Re: How is he slipping out of his shoe? could be bar length too. Guest guest
Are you all talking about the shoes or the Markell shoes? We have the shoes and if they are not tight enough, Abbi has figured out how to wiggle out of her shoes....I once talked to a mom who had Markell shoes, though, and her way of keeping the shoes on was to lace the shoe backwards--meaning you tie the shoes at the toes, making it easier to tighten them without having the kids slide out of the shoes. This mom also uses Baby Gap socks--ones that have traction on the bottoms, making it easier to keep the heel and bottoms of the feet down flat on the shoe. I hope this helps... Guest guest
My son is 2 and he has never pulled his feet out of his shoe until this last pair of shoes. Every morning he takes them out. Anyway I have decided the shoes are too big and I have put him back in his smaller ones whilst I get another pair ordered and I haven't had the problem since. Guest guest
Is there a heel pad in the shoe? My son has only one club foot and the doctor said that the club foot heel is smaller due to the tendon not being as long as the " normal " foot. If you look at the two heels, the normal foot's heel protrudes more. We have been lucky because Bryce's foot hasn't slipped out yet. Although, when I picked him up from daycare yesterday his foot was slipping a little. I think this is because he is kicking a lot more than when he was younger. If there isn't a heel insert in the boot, I would ask about getting one. It may help and it may not.
