Hi All,

As most of you know I was induced with my son had 28 hours of labor that ended

in a c-section....

So I started wondering if there is a difference in the pain from going into

labor naturally or being induced.

I want to know what to expect if it happens naturally.

I have been induced both times and the first time was smooth and easy and the

second was a long, long painful birth. I DO NOT think being induced makes it

worse at all, i think it all depends on the baby, waht position it is in, the

size and if it's ready. My other group just had this discussion a few days ago

and there are several in there with 3 and 4 kids and they all pretty much

think the same thing. you just cannot tell what it is going to be like with

pitocin or natural. the only time it will get worse on pitocon is if the labor

is

not progressing and they ahve to give you alot of it and then your contractions

may come harder but they will do that even if you go natural and nothing

happens, they will hook up the pitocin to get things going then too. JMO

My experience with being induced versus a natrually progressive labor

is that my induced labor was more sharply painful, but a lot quicker

so the whole process wasn't all that terrible.

Natural labor for me was very long and the longer the labor took, the

more the pain became amplified. Not sure if that was because the

labor was so long and the pain WAS more intense, or because I had

been in (non medicated) back labor for so long the continuous pain

began to turn me into a mad woman.
