Hello all, I¹ve been off hunting a solid dx for myself- I¹m currently being

worked up by UC Irvine¹s Mitomed program.

Today I had my annual exam with my neuro-ophthamalogist for my CPEO, and

discovered that I have the beginning stages of cataracts in both eyes, along

with some other weird ocular stuff. I¹m 44; young for this to be happening

Has anyone else developed cataracts along with their other mito symptoms? If

so, can you share any info?

Thanks!

PS- I hope everything with your surgery works out Laurie! I¹ll be thinking

of you.

Rest and recover. I'm glad it is behind you and you can start enjoying

the new vision.

Wow Anita-

I hope it went well. Do the Doctors think the cataracts are related to your

mito? Do you have CPEO, or a dx for a specific mito phenotype/ problem?

Thanks very much,

Kathleen

Hello Kathleen,

Yes, everthing went well and thank you for your kind words. Doctors do think

that the cataracts are related to my mito allthough I haven't a dx for a

specific mito problem but CPEO is a possibility. Eye-problems are a big problem

in our family, my mother and my aunt both have retinitis pigmentosa. I have

eye-problems and my 15 year old daughter has also eye-problems, she also has

cataract.

Best wishes Anita
