Guest guest
Hello all, I¹ve been off hunting a solid dx for myself- I¹m currently being worked up by UC Irvine¹s Mitomed program. Today I had my annual exam with my neuro-ophthamalogist for my CPEO, and discovered that I have the beginning stages of cataracts in both eyes, along with some other weird ocular stuff. I¹m 44; young for this to be happening Has anyone else developed cataracts along with their other mito symptoms? If so, can you share any info? Thanks! PS- I hope everything with your surgery works out Laurie! I¹ll be thinking of you. Kathleen

Guest guest
Wow Anita- I hope it went well. Do the Doctors think the cataracts are related to your mito? Do you have CPEO, or a dx for a specific mito phenotype/ problem? Thanks very much, Kathleen > Hello all, > > I had my surgery (second eye) today and i'm 41 > > Best wishes Anita > > jncwatt jhr.watt@...> wrote: > snip- Has anyone else developed cataracts along with their other mito > symptoms? Guest guest
Thanks, Janice. I hope your eyes are doing well now- Kathleen > > I have had cataract ops in both eyes at 48: I thought that was young. > At the time I was not diagnosed with mito until around a year ago > when I was diagnosed with ataxia and like you other mito things. > > Janice > >
Guest guest
Hello Kathleen, Yes, everthing went well and thank you for your kind words. Doctors do think that the cataracts are related to my mito allthough I haven't a dx for a specific mito problem but CPEO is a possibility. Eye-problems are a big problem in our family, my mother and my aunt both have retinitis pigmentosa. I have eye-problems and my 15 year old daughter has also eye-problems, she also has cataract. Best wishes Anita Kathleen Robins kdrobins@...> wrote: Wow Anita- I hope it went well. Do the Doctors think the cataracts are related to your mito?
