I think I got this recipe from the ANDI newsletter, but I don't

remember. I cut it out a while ago and just tried it tonight for

dessert-it was a HUGE hit! Thought I'd pass it along...

1/2 c peanut butter or soy nut butter

1/3 c granulated sugar

1/3 c packed brown sugar

1/3 c gfcf margerine

1/2 t baking soda

1/2 t baking powder

1 egg

4 c Gorilla Munch cereal

1 c gfcf chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350. Mix 1st seven ingredients with a mixer. Stir in

cereal and chocolate chips. Spread in 9x13 pan and bake 15 minutes.

Cool and cut into bars. (These can also be dropped on a baking sheet

as cookies- bake 10 minutes.)

A side note:

My 12 yo son is taking a " Family & Consumer Science " elective (that's

Home Ec to us old folks) at school. During cooking, he made an

orange smoothie that he thought was really good. He brought home the

recipe, and when he showed it to me, the first thing he said was " We

can use rice milk instead of regular- I asked my teacher! " I even

have my middle schooler modifying recipes for Brett! :o)

Enjoy-

Sue

Sue,

Did you crush the cereal? If so, before or after measuring?

I got a question about Gorilla Munch. I think this is put out by Eco

somebody. They put out several cereals with cute jungle animals or

monkeys on them.

I bought I box this winter ( my kids liked it )and it stated it was

GF. I was gonna buy another box about a month ago and it didn't say

GF- it said Wheat free. That made me suspicious. I looked at some

of the other type of cereal boxes and they stated they were wheat and

gluten free but not Gorilla Munch.

My question is are you sure Gorilla Munch is GF? When I looked at

the ingredients I couldn't see why wouldn't be but I thought that was

real strange

Pam,

No crushing of the cereal needed- just use them whole. YUM!

This was discussed a couple of months ago. I seem to remember that

the Gorilla Munch people said they started using a new printer who

had gotten the label wrong, and many boxes went out with just " wheat

free " rather than " gluten free " . There has been no change in the

cereal, and future printing runs are supposed to be correct.

If I'm not remembering this right, somebody please correct me!

Thanks-

Sue

The original title was " gorilla munch crunch bars " , #66436 on Friday,

5/4. I made the drop cookie version of them last night, and I think

I like them even better.

Enjoy!
