I am searching for any studies that highlight the long term results

of the Ponseti Method.

My husband was born with 2 club feet and now, at the age of 42 is

having difficulties with his left foot. My daughter, 12 months old,

was born with 2 club feet as well and we are using the Ponseti method

to correct them.

My husband and I want to help our daughter as she gets older. We

would like to find ways to avoid (if possible) foot problems when she

get to be 40, 50, etc…..

Any comments?

Thank you

a,

You'll probably need to copy and paste these URLs into your browser.

A comparative study (Ponseti vs. traditional casting and surgery/ies)

is abstraced at:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?

cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=12851354&itool=iconabstr

This 1980 study from Dr Ponseti seems to imply that his patients wound

up happy with their feet even though the feet don't look quite normal

on x-ray. Abstract at:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?

cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=7351412

Another study out of Iowa City, this one from 1996, compares adult feet

treated by the Ponseti method with adult feet free from congenital

deformity.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?

cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=7593056

I'm planning some day to spend time in a medical library with the

studies themselves. Until then , I do hope this helps some.

Because I'm curious, who is treating your daughter?

Sorry for a question that may seem stupid: how can I get the complete text of

the article? I have only abstracts displayed.

Thanks
