Guest guest
Hi guys. OB told us that I'm measuring 20 weeks preggo, not the 15 weeks 2 days I happen to be. Hmmmm. He states it could be 3 possible scenarios: 1. miscalculation of my LMperiod 2. fibroids 3. more than one bee-bee!! hee-hee! I highly doubt it's one of the 1st 2. Anyone have/had fibroids? Never had period probs or pelvic pain! & I'm religious with the cycle tracking, we were ttc! Who else measured bigger than their actual gestational age? Guest guest
WlsMomma, Are they gonna do an ultrasound to determine if it could be twins? I don't know much about fibroids so don't know if that could be the culprit. When I was pregnant with my 10 year old daughter, I was measuring bigger than expected but then again I also was much heavier and gained 60lbs. during the pregnancy so they sent me for an ultrasound to see how big she actually was and she came about 2 weeks later. Best wishes!! Let us know. EDD#2 8/2/04 Have a great day!! __________________________________________________________________ Switch to the New Netscape Internet Service. Guest guest
Hi Jenni, thanks. Yep, the US is in a week & half. Maybe I'm carrying a heavyweight champ? Too odd, I'm still in a size 8---gave up my 6's a while ago. Mmmm, I'm 2 1/2 years post-op & haven't gained any weight---yet, hehe, despite all the grazing. WlsMomma > > hmmm... Are they going to send you in for an ultrasound to see? My sister bless her heart is HUGE if you seen her you would thing she was due any minute and she still has 2 and 1/2 months to go, you would think they were having twins if you seen her but she is just big in the belly. > > Jenni > > EDD 1-2-05 ( they moved me up 4 whole days HAHA!) > > WLS 9-15-04 299/165 pg
Guest guest
Thanks . I'll be happy with whatever the Good Lord gives us. Oh, I did a tiny bit of research on fibroids & one website said that 30% of women get them. Another site said between 25 & 50% with plenty of them being asymptomatic. :-) WlsMomma > WlsMomma, > > Are they gonna do an ultrasound to determine if it could be twins? Guest guest
:-) Robin! Oh no, this clueless chick is about to become even MORE clueless, hehe. Soon, maybe, it'll be time to post 'em twin questions. Well, here's my first: Who determines the likelihood of twins, the dad's or the mom's family tree? Thanks! Guest guest
I'm new here, but I am about 7w pg and I had an ultrasound last Tuesday (the 22nd) and found out I have a fat 3 inch cyst on my right ovary. I have no pain or anything! They were amazed it wasn't making me hurt. I haven't met with my OB yet, the ultrasound was done to check on baby after spotting (all was good and we saw the heartbeat). I'm curious about this cyst and how it will (if at all) affect my pregnancy. I can't wait for my appointment on Tuesday with her. Very strange. Now I just have to get the nerve up to tell my surgeon I'm pg before the one year mark (eep!). My labs are all great and everything, I'm just scared of him because I had to sign this thing that said I wouldn't get pregnant before a year..... I had surgery end of January and have lost about 90 pounds. I'm at around 190 (from 280) size 14 from 24. I know lots of you ladies have done it soon after WLS so I'm not stressing Marj #1 due 2/14/
Guest guest
I Did! I Did! and yep, it was scenario #3! Kept measuring large and was dead sure of my fertile period and conception date. 'Cept, I wasn't measuring nearly 5 weeks large, only a couple of weeks big when I went in for my 20th week ultrasound and found out about our double blessing. Guest guest
Fraternal twins are the only kind that have a genetic link within the woman's side of the family. If your mother... her mother... her mother... etc, were more likely to release more than one egg, then your odds rise also. Our little girl may be more prone to releasing more than one egg at a time than a non-fraternal twin. The man's spermies will only fertalize the number of eggs a woman has released. Identical twins are considered kind of an anomaly of nature, cells spontaniously splitting cannot be predicted. I know my hubby has gotten his fair share of pats on the back on being able to " fire the big guns " and produce twins lol, but my bod gets the scientific credit. I let him think he was the soul producer, seems to help the old ego *wink*. On my part, we have only identical twins in our family so I chalk up our little boy and girl to my age (36) at conception, and the extra hormones I was releasing due to rapid weight loss. Who really knows!?!? Guest guest
Thanks Toi. One of dh's ideas is that I might be carrying a soccer team, hehe. Who knows, we both weighed 12 lbs, apiece, so we'll soon know if it's a sumo wrestler baby, just like mom & pop. WlsMomma > I Did! Guest guest
Excellent explanation. Sure you're not a geneticist? I looove the virility angle, wink, snort, snort, esp since dh is pushing 50. WlsMomma
Guest guest
I don't know what they will do for the cyst. i had cysts before NOT being pregnant and they were treated with birth control pills tor educe them, I am sure they have something for pregnant woman. As for your doc, too bad for him, tell him accidents happen if you have to. If you really don't want him to hassle you just tell him you got pregnant even though you were taking precautions. it's really none of the surgeons business. Congratulations and Good Luck. Guest guest
Marj- Welcome to the group! I am not sure about the cyst but I to am just out of surgery. I had mine on Feb 23,04 and was also very scared of telling my surgoun, but he got over it. He said to make sure that my Gyn/OB is okay with me having had the surgery. I guess there are a lot out there that won't deal with you. Well good luck! Guest guest
Boys come from the mans Sperm. They have both the Xchrom sperm and the Ychrom Sperm. We only carry the x chrom eggs. If a xchrom hits the x egg them we have a girl, but if the Y chrom hits the x egg we have a boy. That is the only thing that is let up to the mans side of things. But I have heard that the xchrom sperms do lat longer than the Y chrom sperms. Go figure! Guest guest
Welcome to the list & congrats, mom! Please don't worry about your surgeon, he's just concerned about limiting liability---take it from a paralegal. Just continue to be proactive, & take 'em supplements. WlsMomma > Very strange. Guest guest
Thanks Candy. We're thrilled no matter what. WlsMomma > > Twins are determined by the mother. They are either a result of two eggs being released or the egg splitting for some reason. It really should have nothing to do with the father (I guess I could be wrong, but that's always what I've been told) > > I have twin girls that are 10. (also a 16 year old girl, 8 month old girl and ANOTHER girl due Nov. 3rd) So just don't ask me how to have a boy! > Candy
