Hi,

Dh looked for the back issue containing the article describing the milk-based

spray to kill e.coli on beef that has been developed, but it must have gotten

thrown out. All he can be sure of is it came out prior to April 21, 2001. He

thinks it was definitely in April, though.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

I really don't think that they will be able to spray all the meat with the

milk based spray. Milk is one of the highest allergens and it would affect a

ton of people.

It hasn't stopped manufacturers yet. I can't buy cookies, crackers or breads in

my area because they *all* either contain milk-derived ingredients or were

processed on dairy equipment, and two of my sons react to the slightest

contamination of milk (not just casein, btw). A lot of processed meats have

milk-derived ingredients. The nuts I can purchase locally are all labeled OUD.

Milk is in virtually *everything* already. Why would they stop now?

I truly hope they don't use this, too, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

It just seems so strange to me that they would spray all of the meat. I'm

sure there will be a big stink about it because so many people are allergic

to milk or lactose. Pretty soon we won't be able to eat anything but the

leaves on the trees.

Are you kidding?! Do you have any idea what they spray on those leaves? :-)

.... but maybe we could eat the roots.

Just heard a bit on the radio. There is some major work going on in the US

into developing containers, specifically fast food container, made from a

combination of wheat straw and wheat starch. They are hoping to replace the

current high cost paper boxes and cartons with cheaper and more

biodegradable technology...which would mean the few options celiacs and

GFCF'ers have for fast food would be taken away...ain't technology wonderful...

Alright already. I won't eat anything. When the heck is there going to be

something safe that doesn't have anything sprayed on it. I wasn't going to

write the comment about eating the leaves either cuz I knew someone was going

to write what you did. Anyways it was funny. It'll teach me a lesson for

next time.
