Hi Everyone,

A question for those on the board who have had VBG and are either

pregnant or have had babies post op:

Just wondering how much weight you gained during the pregnancy? Our

surgery, though a restrictive one, is not a malabsorptive one, so I

know that our weight gain patterns will be different than the bypass

patients.

For those who have had their babies, were you able to get back to

your prepregnancy weights? How long did it take you? If you weren't

at goal weight before getting pregnant, were you able to manage it

after giving birth?

My surgeon told me that on average, a VBG pt will lose her preg

weight in about 6-8 weeks...Has that been your experience?

I guess like everyone, the weight gain during pregnancy is unnerving

to me...my big fear is that my increase in appetite/cravings, etc

will wreck my surgery, making it more difficult to lose the weight.

The cravings I have under more control now than in the beginning

though. Just " what if " ing myself to death sometimes - what if I

stretch my pouch...or detach the staples, etc...

I know my capacity to eat at one meal is more than before, though I

think it is on par with my cohorts who had surgery at the same time

as me...I think before I got prego I was actually still eating less

than them, about 4-6 oz per meal compared to their 6-9 oz.

Just wondering what your experience has been with this...Your

responses are greatly appreciated.

Hugs to the board,

VBG May 6/03 -104lb in 9 mos...Now 21+ weeks preg with baby #1
