Guest guest
If you live in an area where there are kosher foods available, you could buy kosher meat - it is definately going to be free of any milk products as the complete separation of milk and meat is a cornerstone of the Jewish dietary laws. Contact the nearest Conservative or Orthodox synagogue to see where you can obtain kosher meat in your area. Often there are kosher food co-ops through which you can buy, if you don't have a kosher market in the area. It isn't cheap, but is guaranteed to be free of milk! Myra M. A lot of processed meats have milk-derived ingredients.
Guest guest
Thank you very much. I even knew that about kosher meats, but I completely forgot to use my brain. I did a search on the science news website but they didn't have the article posted or any reference to it yet. It may be too early because they want people to read the magazine instead of just looking it up on the net. I will keep checking back there to see if they post it. A friend of mine with a lot of land offered to let me buy a calf and she would let it graze on her land for free. I would just have to buy it hay and pay for it to be turned into food when it was big. I didn't do it this year because I just don't have the extra money to go buy a cow and I can't find anyone willing to sell me one for 3 magic beans. However, that may be an option for some of you if you have friends, family, or nice farmers in your area. Also don't forget to check for Amish and Quaker communities in your area. Many of them raise high-quality stuff and are willing to sell some to the public. My dad makes his own sausage and stuff from animals that the Amish raise. > If you live in an area where there are kosher foods available, you could buy kosher meat - it is definately > going to be free of any milk products as the complete separation of milk and meat is a cornerstone of the Jewish dietary laws.
