Guest guest
Ever have one of those days!?! I went in for my every 3-4 month check up this evening hoping to reduce some of our medical expenses (primarily DME) and the result was anything but. My O2 sats were 88-90 at rest, comfortable, not in distress...so my oxygen isn't going anywhere. Then I asked him to check my ankle which keep failing me. He said the ligaments are very loose and not supporting the joint (truly not a surprise) but it will definitely need some support to prevent additional injury. So, he ordered an air cast. He felt this would be most appropriate. On the plus side he is very supportive of the approval to receive a service dog in May and signed three sets of forms verifying that. Curiously, he said he has suggested them to a number of his patients and they all rejected the suggestion. He hadn't realized a patient could initiate the process independently and succeed. My Lupus labs were finally " good " after a year of adjusting meds and increasing steriods. Not good for my weight, but good for the affected organ systems. I know, I'll adjust, it's just the principle of it all. And, more equipment, etc to cart around the country when we travel (which is often). Some weeks the fun doesn't end. Of course, my girls think this is great as now mom can more fully relate Joanne Kocourek (mom to , lies, and ) visit us at: http://www.caringbridge.org/il/annakris

Guest guest
My prednisone is at 10 mg. He would like it at 7.5 but i have major problems every time it is decreased. I know the air cast might help, and sure can't hurt. It''s just the principle of it all. I trust your dog will do just fine. Try to relax about the process as he/she will pick up on your anxiety. Have you seen the public access requirements? If not, I woudl be happy to fax a copy to you. They are very specific and then you woudl know what will be evaluated. Guest guest
Hi , This is the link to the public access test: http://www.adionline.org/publicaccess.html This way you can bookmark the page and have it available to easy reference. I believe the trainer will evaluate how well your dog responds to you. Does he follow commands? Is he attentive? Are you able to maintain control of him at all times? What basic commands does he know and perform on command consistently? These are all areas that they will evaluate. They will also ask what tasks you would like the dog to do that he may not currently do. They will likely evaluate good canine citizenship. From what you've shared about your dog, I expect you will do just fine. Try to relax so the dog doesn't pick up on any insecurity you might have. Enjoy each other. That's really important. I agree about the prednisone. I hate it. It may also be contributing to your memory issues, although I'm not sure because lies has almost identical issues to those you detailed in your other post. The challenge will be determining what reasonable accommodation can be made. A PDA does work for some. lies, though, could never remember where she laid it or to check it Short term, index cards do help her as long as she keeps them available. Praying for good thing to come your way.
