Marj WLS 1/26/04 270/193/150 #1 due 02/14/05 ------------------------------- I never made it to my 3 month or 6 month Post Op appt... Just before my 3 month appt I found out I was preggers.. (10 weeks Post op) I called the office and they asked how I was feeling.. any discomfort... and requested a copy of my bloodwork for thier records. I got the " it's too early to be pg speech " and I figure that unless I have some issues... I will avoid my surgeons office. It is an hour drive.. then to sit in a tiny little office for an hour to be seen... Since I am under constant medical care at the moment... I am not concerned about the surgeons office.. I do have a hernia...but there is nothing they can do about it right now. I am very lucky.. as my OB is a 1 year grad of Lap RNY. ********************************* K in Ft Lauderdale Mommy to: Noah - 10/14/02 Jonah edd 11/18/04 http://www.love-my-kids.com
Guest guest
I just called and made my 6 month post op appt with my surgeon for Tuesday. I sure hope he doesn't flip out. I'm scared! DH nagged me because he is worried about his " puffed rice " (baby!) to make an appointment with the surgeon... I'm just stressing about telling him. I was going to talk to one of his nurses today about it, but the lady on the phone said only the doctor can talk to me about being pregnant. So, DH is going in that room with me on Tuesday with the surgeon and protecting me from the wrath! I told him he had to. The relieving news is that our first OB appointment is that morning. If anyone has encouraging words or experiences when they told their surgeons of their " early " post-op pg, please pass them my way so I don't stress out. Guest guest
I got pregnant a couple of weeks before my 6 month apt. I found out about 4 days before the apt. I called and let them know I was Pregnant before the apt so they would be prepared and could advise me on this new turn in my journey. My surgeon just said that he warned me about how fertile women get(some even come out of menopause) I explained that it was not intentional but after years of infertility I was happy about it and would do what ever it takes to keep me and the baby healthy. We discussed the psycological aspects of no longer loosing weight or even gaining weight at this point and I was told that I should not be ashamed to call for counsiling if I felt it was too much. he told me that I should see a high risk OB and gave me the name of one he knew that works with WLS patients. He said in his opinion there is no reason I couldnt have a healthy pregnancy but they would work together to keep a closer eye on me, my health and nutritional needs. I then saw the nutritionist in his office and she and I went over what kinds of food increases I should do and how to get the nutrition in. She told me to call or e-mail her with any concerns at any time and she sent me food logs via e-mail that I could occasionally fill out and turn into her for her nutritional advise. Everybody taking care of me has been wonderful and I feel fortunate to have chosen some wonderful doctors. (generaly I am very skeptical with the medical profession because of past experiences but that is changing with these good experiences) Last week I just had my 1 year post op with my WLS surgeon and all seems to be great. They are happy for me and will be there as I try to continue to loose weight after the baby comes. I know everybodys experience is different but I hope yopur visit with your surgeon goes as well as mine did. Good Luck - Diane > I just called and made my 6 month post op appt with my surgeon for Tuesday. I sure hope he doesn't flip out. I'm scared!
