I would think that you being at a normal weight.. you would gain like a normal woman. I use the word 'normal' not to say we are not normal.. but well.. ya all know what I mean! 5 lbs in 12 weeks is great... You have to realize that you now have a placenta... and your amniotic fluid and increase of blood volume. I haven't hit goal yet.. still another 75lbs to go.... but I can tell you that I am WAY to obsessed with the scale... it consumes me some days... I was 10 weeks PO when I got preggers.. and in the last 20 weeks I have only lost 18 lbs... I say *only* because well.. my head tells me 'lose weight " .. my body says eat... Trust me.. my body wins out... ********************************* K in Ft Lauderdale Mommy to: Noah - 10/14/02 Jonah edd 11/18/04 http://www.love-my-kids.com
Guest guest
So, I will be 12 weeks on July 4th and I am flipping out! I had RNY bandded gastric bypass in December 2002. I went from 256 lbs to 134lbs and was stable at this weight for 4-5 months and I was very happy because this was 1 pound below my goal weight. I heard that after WLS when you get pregnant you gain very little weight, well at almost 12 weeks I have already gained almost 5 pounds! I am really nervous that this in not a good sign and I am freaking out. Also I really started to show this week! I am worried that it is to early for me to show but maybe I am wrong. I had a tummy tuck at the same time as my bypass and I think that since my stomach was so flat is why I have started to show. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
- Have you read my previous posts about this? I too, was starting to freak out. After 2 miscarriages and the surgery, I had stabalized (I'm 5yrs postop) at 130. All of a sudden I'm pregnant...and losing weight for the first time in three years. At my 14 wk appt, I was officially down 14 pounds. At my 18wk appt (last wed) I had somehow managed to gain a mere 2 pounds. The doctor was very happy about that and made jokes/comments like, " Okay - if you're eating like a pig keep doing it because you're still 13 pounds behind. " Our baby boy is doing wonderfully, he was measuring small, but had a recent growth spurt and is now right on target...if not 2 days ahead! As for showing? I wrote about that too. I was losing weight, collarbones sticking out bad again, but I was in maternity (and strangers were noticing my belly) at 9wks! I carried big with my first son which was before surgery when I weighed 265#, doctor says with the c-section, RNY scar, then secondary RNY scar from staff infection/going home with open wound - that my tummy isn't going to fight growing. So it sounds like I will look like I'm going to pop at 7 mths...just like I did back in 1998 with my son. Hang in there, make sure you're taking your vitamins, get plenty of rest and nutritional food that you can keep down. Things should be fine. Our baby boy is getting all he needs from me...I don't have to eat a carload in order for him to grow and thrive. Good luck in Detroit
