Guest guest
Anyone here take or have experience with ketoprophen? After a long wait, I finally got to see a headache/neuro doc ( Biondi, MGH). Too bad, at the end of the appt he told me that he would be leaving medical practice to go to work for a pharmaceutical company, and therefore couldn't follow me. And he didn't have anyone that he would recommend to take over, re my headaches. So I'm kind of on my own (but I do have a doc that will presumably write renewal scrips), which would be wierd except that I've gotten used to having poor-to-none access, esp. when it comes to specialists that know a lot about what ails me. So anyway, I thought ketoprophen was more or less a high-powered version of ibuprophen (which I have been taking, in high dosage, without problem). BUT now that I've filled the scrip and the doc is no longer around, I see that the considerable warnings on the packaging are a bit menacing, for instance talking rather severely about benefit/risk tradeoff. My dosage is 75 mg., up to times a day as needed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Steve D.
Guest guest
I forgot to add: the ketoprophen is prescribed primarily for headaches, but he hoped that it might also benefit my PN. ketoprophen Anyone here take or have experience with ketoprophen? Guest guest
No, I'm not taking B2 (riboflavin). I tried it at the mito-typical dosage (can't recall amount at the moment) for several months, to no effect. Steve ketoprophen > > > Anyone here take or have experience with ketoprophen? Guest guest
Hi Steve, Some Mito docs are now prescribing up to 600mgs a day for their patients. So you might want to try it again but at a higher dose. I started at 200mgs and had to increase it. It really has helped my headaches/migraines. It didn't take them away totally, but it did help to cut down on the number. I used to have headaches/migraines every single day. Guest guest
Sorry it didn't help you. My daughter and I take 400mg daily and it has made all the difference in the world. I believe some docs have their patients even on 600mg a day, but I can' t guarantee my memory on that. I hope you can find something that helps. Too bad you aren't closer to the headache clinic here in Michigan. They have really helped my nephew. Steve wrote: >No, I'm not taking B2 (riboflavin). Guest guest
Steve I talked with a headache doc about the B2 and he said that research he did in CA showed that it was safe up to 1200 mg. per day in divided doses. This was for " normal " people so I would check it out with someone. Any pain med if used more than two days a week can often cause rebound headaches. laurie > Anyone here take or have experience with ketoprophen? Guest guest
Interesting - I took 100 mg of B2 and felt very poorly in general. I decreased my dose to 25 mg and felt a general improvement. I also felt very poorly when on B100 complex. But I seem to be outside the norm for mito patients (even)... Back to the subject, I have ulcers due to NSAID use, which are aspirin, ibuprofen, and related products. Make sure you eat when you take the pills, that helps avoid ulcers. Take care, RH > > >I forgot to add: the ketoprophen is prescribed primarily for headaches, but he hoped that it might also benefit my PN. > > ketoprophen > > > > > > Anyone here take or have experience with ketoprophen?
