Guest guest
Just wondering... Have any of you had any experience with these shoes? Do they last anytime? If the soles are soft can your kids play in them outside? I'm wondering if stones and such would hurt the bottoms of their feet... OR.. Should I just pass on these shoes and get something from striderite..? Only problem with that is that needs an XXW shoe and they have very little to choose from.. Any other suggestions?? Thanks
Guest guest
, I have not heard of those shoes before, but they sound interesting. I just yesterday took to our local outlet mall to the new stride- rite store and bought her some new sandals. Up until now she's worn a variety of shoes but I am going to keep her in stride rites now just because they fit so well, have such good flexible soles and seem so much better for her feet. Anything that I helps I guess! The outlet malls prices are so much better than the department stores prices that I used to pay. She has had good luck in the past with buster brown shoes also. I like them a lot and have seemed to be very good for her feet. Holly and - -- In nosurgery4clubfoot , poohismybb@c... wrote: > Just wondering... Have any of you had any experience with these shoes? Guest guest
My kids both wear the Robeez (basically the same as Bobux) outside when the ground's mostly dry, including on our gravel driveway and have never complained. They can be pretty tight around the ankle for kids with very fat feet though. If you are looking for really wide shoes, ckeck out See Kai Run shoes: http://www.seekairun.com They are made of very, very soft leaher with really flexible soles and cut very wide. The footbed is very plain, doesn't mess with developping arches. And they are super cute. Jonah asks to wear his just about every day (the kid is a shoe fanatic). They aren't too pricey for a nice shoe: $30. If you have trouble finding any, I help a couple hours a week in a friend's children's boutique and I would be happy to send you some. People love them. Also, Preschoolians make good flexible shoes and they will help you with fit over the phone. And if you need 2 different sizes, they'll do that for you at no extra cost. My suddenly-very-picky-about-her-clothes daughter didn't like the way they looked though (they do have something of that " orthopedic shoe " look to them). http://www.preschoolians.com Good luck! Guest guest
Holly- wow, I'm jealous!! You have a Striderite outlet?? That's the only brand of shoes we put Jake into- his PT had recommended (way back when lol) shoes that are flexible but not floppy, and have a good arch support. Striderite is the only brand I've found that fits the bill. Plus their shoes usually last for awhile. I do wish they were cheaper though- I end up spending as much on shoes for my kids as I do for myself!! Guest guest
, i am so jealous! We dont even have a stride rite store much less an outlet. I found a pair at dillard's for 37.00! Well we did not buy them but I think that she would do better in stride rite but I did find a nice pair at payless of " dora " and it seemed to have good ankle support plus on the bottom they have the " flex sole " but they did not have her size! I was so mad b/c she needs sandals very bad but I cant seem to find any good ones w/ good ankle support at a reasonable price. and her is small but wide. i guess it depends on the shoe cause stride rite is wide enough for her. yeah when it comes to kids we always buy them 1st! Especially with b/c she is the only girl! and BL CF 12/16/03 > Holly- wow, I'm jealous!! You have a Striderite outlet?? Guest guest
grace gets everything too... her cousin abby (02-11-04) has all of her sister's handy me downs and toys and all that... and she also gets all of grace's clothes... abby is a tiny little thing.. so she is in 12 months while grace is in 24 months even though they are only 10 weeks apart... crazy... so my mom always buys clothes for grace... i think she has pretty much bought her entire wardrobe through every size... gets them all on sale at jc penny... and then i pass it on down to abby.. but my mom also got her a pair of stride rite sandals (i think they are called fisherman sandals?) but i don't think the ankle support is that good... but grace loves them... thinks she's hot stuff.. i use the $9 sketchers for her outside play shoes... they are more sturdy and cost much less... the store i go to is at Opery Mills Shopping Mall in nashville... maybe try to go online to see if they ship... just a thought... love having that place so close... they also have a baby gap outlet and an old navy outlet that are awsome... had to rub that in... ... lol... mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 16/7 michelle andyandsamanthamom@...> wrote: , i am so jealous! Guest guest
wanted to respond to this because I just got Darbi's See Kai Run green Janes and these things are HUGE! They are way, way, way too wide for her feet. My problem... they're green mary janes and I just had to have them. But if you're looking for wide shoes with a soft sole, you will find what you want with the See Kai Run line. They're too wide for a normal foot and I almost didn't buy them. I can't understand why they're made so wide, so many feet will not be able to wear them. She absolutely cannot wear their sandals, her feet just slide right out the front and over the edge. Even in the too small size. I was very disappointed in this because I really wanted those sandals. But for wide clubfeet... they're perfect and they have a VERY flexible and soft sole. I don't have the link to their website but I bet if you search See Kai Run you'll find it. Very cute, very flexible, very wide shoes. Guest guest
Isn't that the truth, my girls are better dressed than I am! :-) I raced out when I heard there was a new stride rite at the outlet mall. A few preschool moms had told me about it and I was thrilled! Hey, I read that had the ATTT and it sounded like the surgery went very well for him and he was up and around pretty quickly. How old was he when he needed it and do you know is it rare to need it more than once? Since his tendon was tightening again, did he need to use the brace furthur after the surgery? Guest guest
I just paid $19.99 for a pair of white sandals for that are wonderful. I looked for tennis shoes to replace the ones she's wearing now but they didn't have her size, so I'll go back again in a few weeks. By the way, another excellent pair of shoes she has worn in the past was tennis shoes made by NIKE. We have them at our outlet also and the infants size NIKE shoes were great. I kept buying the same shoe once she outgrew a pair because they were so good on her feet. I think she was probably getting tired of the same exact shoes everytime we went shopping for a larger size. Guest guest
that's funny.. because i can see myself doing that... i do that on some of her outfits.. she grows through things so fast and i would buy the same outfit in the next size up because i loved it and she only got to wear it like 3-4 times.. that was frustrating... so i find myself putting her in the same " favorite " outfits over and over and the other ones that are cute also only get worn like once.. not a good trend to be in... i am actually trying to force myself to go through her closet completely before putting a " favorite " on... it's driving me crazy!! lol.. mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 16/7 shelbytru dhtru@...> wrote: I just paid $19.99 for a pair of white sandals for that are wonderful. Guest guest
Holly- Jake had his ATTT surgery when he was just over 3 yrs old. Dr Dietz told us that we had the option of recasting, but that in kids over 3 yrs the casts don't usually work and the kids end up needing the ATTT surgery. Ideally this is the last procedure the child will need! Isn't that amazing? And no need for the dbb/fab or special shoes or PT afterwards (I'd asked about those and he said no). We'd talked to lots of parents, both here on the clubfoot boards and in " real life " and heard the same thing. The need for another ATTT is very rare. Dr Dietz told us that in 20 yrs of practice he'd had only 6 kids where the ATTT didn't work. Unfortunately Jake makes #7! His tendon seems to have pulled out a little so it doesn't lift his foot as it should. So we are now doing stretching and strengthening exercises on Jake's foot, in the hopes that he won't need the surgery. While they are helping some I don't think enough and he will probably need the surgery anyways. Dr Dietz is planning on doing another achilles tenotomy and also some sort of tendon release in his arch (his arch is *really* high and is making his foot a full size smaller than his other) during the ATTT. hth!
