Hi Laurie,

Welcome again, and thanks sooooo much for responding. If you could just write

it on here and I will print it and send to her. Anything that will ease her

mind or that she could show different people when they are unaware of life as

a fat person or anything about the MGB that you have experienced. It really

will help. She has fought back and told them that they don't know anything

cause only Dr.R does this and they are like " Well I know other Dr. who do

laparoscopic surgery " . So if you can, please send any info that would make

her OK with it. I tried to tell her all I can and I can tell she is

reallllllllllll worried. Can you help? Hugs! Margie

Margie, Best of luck to you next week! I'll be in Durham too, arriving on

Thursday with my buddy Flo, and Trish is picking me up at the airport! If

you're still at the hospital Thursday afternoon, I'll come by to visit! :)

If it would help, point your mom to my web site

http://onhealth.com/women/in-depth/item/item,91744_1_1.asp

<http://onhealth.com/women/in-depth/item/item,91744_1_1.asp> . I discuss my

life as a fat person, why I chose this surgery, and weekly reports on my

life since my MGB on May 22. They're a couple weeks behind since it has to

go through an editor and stuff, but I'm down 35 lbs. now and I feel

WONDERFUL!!!!!!!

Thank God and Dr. Rutledge for giving me my life back. I have much hope for

a much healthier, and happier future.

Blessings,

Amy.

Hi there Laurie, You looked pretty good last week. I hope your cold is better. I am not at goal I was told for my surg to be a success I need to be at 161 I am currently at 166.5 Dr. Hahn told me that I could stop losing anytime but they suggested maybe to be around 140 or so so about 20 something left to lose. I feel very good most of the time although I still have vomiting once a week. I wasn't too happy with the nutritionist appointment they don't update us gastric bypass patients as to the new vitamins they recommend. I bought some Centrum chewable vitamins because I am almost out of my bariatric advantage multi vits and she said they don't recommend using that well that is what my binder has listed she said do not take it that they want us to take either prenatal vits or some type of high something vits. I told her they really should send out information to any patient who has had the surg to keep us up to date. My labs

were pretty good except for my folate and ferritin. Dr. Hahn said don't worry about either of them but I am concerned about the ferritin because of the research I have done it says even if the iron is ok if the ferritin is low then it could be a sign of sometype of anemia that could rear its head he wouldn't even consider answering me on that question. I am not supposed to go back to him or his associate until May at my year appt. I asked if they would do any more labs at that time he said as of now they didn't have a year lab slip yet.. Like I'm the first one to do this surg and get to a year or something? Well any way I hope you have A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING.. ROSELLLORY@... wrote: Thanks Rose! Are you at goal now? You look great! Hi Rose, thanks for the update. As for labs, get your

PCP to order them for you. That's my plan. I have

labs ordered for six months by dr OBrien. For a year,

if they don't order anything, I will ask my PCP. It

says in the binder that PCP is to order periodic

bloodwork, to monitor vitamin levels, I think. I

can't swear to it, though, because my binder is in a

box somewhere.

As for vites, I don't follow their recommendations. I

take what Vitalady says! Actually, I haven't added

the Magnesium yet, but I will at some point. My multi

right now is the Kirkland dinosaurs from

Costco...childrens chewables. I take vitalady's tender

iron, three a day with a chewable C (I chew the iron).

I take 2 750 mg calcium, a stress B twice a day, and

one dry A & D. I need to up my iron, I think, I'm not

taking the recommended amount. Oh, I forgot the

sublingual B12. I take that first thing every day.

The dietician phoo phoo'd everything extra I'm taking,

and told me to switch to a prenatal. I'm not! I don't

think they are as informed as they should be about

supplements.

Take care!

Laurie

Lauri You're right if you don't get the labs done when you should ask your PCP, and ask about any questions about the labs if you don't get them taken care of by nutritionist or surgeon. I can't say enough good things about Beth Wagner in Richmond she really stays working on things with me. Dr Baggs has been wonderful also. So I hope things go well for you too. Take care and have a Happy Thanksgiving. DonnaLLLORY@... wrote: Hi Rose, thanks for the update. As for labs, get yourPCP to order them for you. That's my plan. Hang in there Laurie it is a very slow process. I go up and down too. I went shopping after x-mas and actually got on a size 4 skirt but I didn't like it so didn''t buy it. I don't really want to get into too much of a smaller size I'm thrilled to be in a 6 and 8's I no I will have to though. I have about 18 lbs left to get to my goal weight. I'm starting to think about the plastic surg stuff but not sure when I should look into getting that done. I've lost all my bust by 13 year old daughter has a bigger bust than I do I. Thats sad. So needless to say the bust surg is the first thing to be done. Tomorrow is my 21st anniversary my husband is loving the new me so I'm curious as to what he might come up with. We had planned to go out of town together for the weekend but we had an uncle pass away so we have a funeral to go to on sat. I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Keep me posted on your

progress. Enough blabbing for me. Hang in there Laurie we didn't gain the weight overnight and no magic pill or even our surg will take it away overnight although we'd all love that to happen. Your doing a great job keep a positive attitude you will get where you want to be. Take Care Rose LLLORY@... wrote: WTG Rose! A size six! Wow! I'm shooting for an 8myself, but we'll see! Thanks for the encouragement, Rose. Actually, I've

lost ten pounds in the last ten days. I'm tickled

All I'm doing differently is my shakes. I was only

doing three or four a week. Then I was out of town

for a week and didn't have any. Now I'm doing two a
