Isn't funny how names can be mispronounced? My daughter, Elyse (pronounced

" A lease " ) gets called Elsie all the time. Oh, well.

" " Even simple names can be botched. Take Milan. Simple, just like the city

in Italy " "

Hi ,

I read in a yellow page magazine that more than half of the people in the US

can't find THEIR country on a globe, so don't assume they know a city in

Italy. Italy, isn't that a quarter in New York? LOL

We chose the name Fiona because it is short and pronounced equally in all

common languages. Do other people find it simple? Forget it :-))!

Hi Torsten,

I'll admit we have some dimwitted people here in

the US of A, but come on!!!! More than half?!!!!

Just who did they poll? It wasn't me nor anyone

I know! So that blows that statistic out of the

water, because that would mean that every OTHER

American you meet on the street wouldn't be able

to locate our own county on a globe.

I'm sure that was just tongue in cheek, but it

is just plain ignorant.

Can you tell I'm horribly behind on my mail?

Sian is pronounced " Sharn " - Welsh, meaning " God is gracious " . And my name

is pronounced with the " e " as in " tee " , not as in " egg " .

Much love

" That which does not kill us,

makes us stronger "

Re: Re: Names

Hello everyone.

The process of picking out names has been a challenging one for us to say the

least. Each one I suggest is shot down-- but so are the ones he suggests and

they are shot down by me! We are at no agreement and I have only 6 1/2 weeks to

go... I think it will be down to the wire with us deciding. We know we are

having a boy so many people ask about the names-- I don't even tell them the

ones we have kicked around anymore as the responses are rather suprising!

People do not hold back on their opinions, do they? Here are the ones my

fiancee likes (soon-to-be hubby, we are getting married THIS Friday 7/9!):

Kale Nielsen ( keeps calling the baby Kale now). I don't care for

this one but I have to say it is growing on me but it wouldn't be my first

choice. What do you all think? Honestly, I would rather hear opinions from you

all and just see what you have to say... I know that in the end it is our

decision but I would like some feedback now! haha

Cam ? Nielsen- not Cameron just Cam and I don't like it! I think Cameron is

cute but not just Cam by itself.

Shay ? Nielsen- Irish boy name but sounds too feminine to me.

See what I am up against? I am SO frustrated. I do have a son who is named

Jake and I would love to name the new baby Jack after not only my

grandfather but 's, too but he thinks it is too " average " of a name!

I like Cade/Kade Nielsen, Caden, and Oliver to just name a few. What

is this poor girl to do??? I just needed to vent.

Have a good day everyone.

I LOVE the name Kendall! That was the name of the hospice nurse we had for my

grandmother last year, and I absolutely love it. Of course, she (the nurse) was

beyond wonderful to us, so that might have something to do with it. I have never

heard of anyone having that name besides her. GREAT choice!

Subject: Names

I know I am not nearly as far along as a lot of you but I have thought of some

names:

If it's a girl I want to name her Kendall Marie ( Marie is mine and my mother's

middle name ) and if it's a boy I want to name him ph. ph after

my brother that passed in '98. But that is the extent of us naming them after

family. What do you all think of those names? Just kind of thrown out there for

now since I am only 7 weeks pregnant...Hope you all are having a good one!

My son's name is Kieran . He is 3 years old and absolutely

adorable.

I'm about 19 weeks with this baby. DH and I are still figuring out

names. For girls I like a, Natasha and Natalya. The middle

name will definitely be Jean. For boys, I haven't really decided on

anything, other than I'd like to continue the Gaelic theme. :-)

We have our 20 week ultrasound on Monday. Our AFP test came back

very slightly elevated, so I'm a little nervous. But the doctor did

say that it was just a screening test and that only 5 out of 100

women who screened positive would have a baby with any neural tube

defects. Because I'll be 35 when I deliver, I was already scheduled

for the level 2 ultrasound. It's sad that 35 is considered an old

fart. Anyway, I'll be happy when I can see my little one with all

her parts in the right place and of the right size.

Blessings,

Lara
