Guest guest
He sounds like he is a mature 9 year old and I would take him in if he really wants to go, just have someone there to watch him in case he needs to leave the room because he changes his mind, he probably will not though since he has seen it on TV and knows basically whqat is going on. I think it will be awesome for him and your family to do this together God Bless, Robin, NorthEastern, NY Age- 41 EDD- July 27th, 2004 IT'S A BOY!!!!!! Guest guest
I personally don't like an audience when I am nekkid and funky looking.. Of course the miracle of birth for me will be surgical... and I don't mind 1 bit. The very thought of squeezing a baby out of my vagina ... well.. I rather be cut open.. LOL -------- That being said... I am not sure how I would feel having a pre pubescent girl watching childbirth. I like to think.. while it IS a natural and beautiful event... that a young girl should stay a young girl and not yet REALLY experience childbirth yet.... On the other hand.. it just may keep your young girl FAR AWAY from boys for a while.. Guest guest
Sharyn, As a L&D nurse the only advise I would give you is (hope you haven't heard this one yet...lol)...have someone to take your son out of the room if he decides he doesn't want to stay. Also in the event of an emergency someone to care for your son would be great so your husband can stay with you... I think it is great that he is interested in participating. Good luck edc 2-5-
Guest guest
Sharyn, My daughter is 10 and she will be in the room with me when I deliver her little sister. I wouldn't have it any other way since she has been waiting for this for so long. We have talked to her about it and she watches the baby story with me everyday. I think she is prepared for it. Well as prepared for it as I am, I suppose. Good luck and best wishes to you!! I told her to pack a bag soon with things that will keep her occupied since it could be along time like her gameboy, books, cd player. EDD#2 8/2/04....hopefully sooner -- Have a great day!! __________________________________________________________________ Switch to the New Netscape Internet Service. Guest guest
Our 13 yr old son will be in the delivery room when the babies are born. He has been very involved with this pregnancy, going to Ultrasound appts, dr appts, watching A Baby Story, picking out stuff, etc., and is very excited to welcome them into the family. We've talked about the vulnerable position I will be in and that the doc and nurses will be checking me often and he seems ok about it all. He decided that he would like to operate the video camera so that if he does feel any discomfort with the situation he'll at least have the camera to concentrate on and act as a sort of barrier. We thought this was a good idea. He is also aware that at any moment I may need to go in for a c-section (not anticipated at all) and that he should be prepared for that if they allow him into the room. He seems to be confident about either process that could come up.
