Guest guest
I'm very sorry that so many of you are having difficulty with the new MDA chat server. Unfortunately it will take a few weeks to work out all the kinks. I guess for us I'm happy it is happening over summer as we usually have fewer chatter during this period. Please don't give up! If you are unable to get it with your " old name and password " or if you are new to MDA chat you will need to contact Penny Hankins at phankins@... She is the MDA chat administrator but only works Monday through Friday (don't expect any response over the weekend or on Holidays). If you are used to chatting and have saved the chat address to your favorites file you will need to delete the old address and save the new one as it is different. (Please see information below). I would strongly encourage any/all of you to try and visit one of the other MDA chats to become familiar. Thursday night from 8-9 pm EST is Positive Thinking chat and Sunday 7-8 pm EST is General Support Chat. If you run into any other issues not covered here please don't hesitate to contact Laurie or me. We will try to do what ever we can to make this transition easier. All: * As many of you know by now, we have recently moved to a new chat client called DigiChat for MDAChats . I have entered all chat hosts into the membership database, so those of you that are hosts can log into DigiChat using the same nickname/username and password you always have used. The Login page is located at: http://www.mda.org/chat/chatroomlogin.aspx. If a security warning or two pops up, just click Yes to proceed. * " Regulars " have also been added to the membership database, so try logging in with.the same nickname/username and password you always have used first. If you are unable to log in, please see next paragraph please email mdachat@... to do this and let us know what nickname/username you would like. You will be sent a password the next day via email (or on Monday morning if submitted over the weekend). * MDA Chat transcripts will be downloaded every morning and placed on the MDA Web site on the next business day following a chat (or asap). A chat calendar can still be found at: http://www.mda.org/chat/calendar.html. All chat times and days have remained the same. * Your Web browser must have javascript enabled in order for you to enter MDA chats now. If you want to check if your Web browser has javascript enabled please go to: http://www.buymebuyme.com/retail/help/javascript.html. These instructions will tell you how to enable javascript in your browser. * When you go to the login page for MDA chats (http://www.mda.org/chat/chatroomlogin.aspx) you will not see fields for your User Name or Password until 15 minutes before a chat is to open. * Once you do login to MDA chats, you will automatically enter a general room called MDA Foyer. To enter the specific chat room you want (i.e., Positive Thinking, Living with ALS, etc.), click on the Rooms tab in your window and you will see a list of available chat rooms on the right-side of the window. Double-click on the chat you want to enter. * You can change your icon, colors, font sizes, etc. in the Settings area, so just click this button if you want to change your profile, add an emoticon, etc. Email me at phankins@... or mdachat@... with questions. Happy Chatting! ___________________________________________ Penny Hankins Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Web Site Administrator, National Headquarters 3300 E. If you don't get it tomorrow, let me know and I will contact MDA. laurie On 6/13/06, net> wrote: > > > > > > > Laurie I re-registered for the new MDA chat room on Saturday, June > 10th but have yet to receive a new nickname and password.
