Once again can't log in for chat

Well, once again (3rd week in a row) I am unable to login for the chat. I was

sent a username and password which I used. When I type both in and then hit the

" connect " button, it closes my server (Firefox). Same if I hit the " enter chat "

button (the site is not very clear as to exactly what you should do to enter

chat). Maybe it's just as well, as I hear thunder and probably should get off

computer anyway (non-stop thunderstorms here for past 2 days, record rain).

Does anyone have any suggestions? Can you not use Firefox? Anyone else having

a problem logging in?

Randall,

Do you also have a firewall that may be causing problems for you? Just

an idea.

Yes, I have a firewall. Do you have to deactivate it to log in? Don't have to

on other sites I can think of. BTW, got the same result with Internet Explorer

and FireFox.

Randall,

I also was not able to login for the MDA Chat tonight. My FireFox browser got

hung up for several minutes and then crashed when I tried to access the login

page. I am CCing this post to mdachat@... in the hope that they may be

able to trouble-shoot the problem.

I do have Norton Internet Security 2006 that includes AntiVirus, ad blocking,

popUp options and a firewall. Both FireFox and Norton's are up to date, and

after a review of my logs, there were no rejections nor blocks from the

AntiVirus, ad blocking, popUp options and the firewall.

Before the and my session was recorded as follows:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***2006 Jun 26 21:22 55
http: //www.mda.org/chat/chatroomlogin.aspx
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

***2006 Jun 26 21:22 36

http: //albany.digi-net.com/DigiChat/DigiClasses/ChatMaster_5_1_0_1.jar

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***2006 Jun 26 21:22 36
http: //www.mda.org/favicon.ico
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

***2006 Jun 26 21:22 24

http: //www.mda.org/chat/chatroomlogin.aspx

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The program and hardware particulars are as follows:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Firefox/1.5.0.4

Norton Internet Security 2006, Version 9.1.0.33

Norton AntiVirus 2006, Version 12.2.0.13

Windows XP Professions Version 2002, SP-2 - updated

Dual Xeon 2.0 gHz Pentium 4 - L2

Ultrawide SCSI (160)

1.0 GB RAM

Dual IBM SCSI 35 GB 15,00RPM Hard Drives

Verizon 768Kbps/128Kbps DSL - WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hopefully the above data will help mdachat@... figure out where the
problem is. Are you also running Windows XP with Norton's Internet Security? I
have been able to login to other chat sessions, and I don't think my system is
the problem -- everything is running ok, BUT I don't know for sure. I may have
overlooked something.
If I can remember next week's chat, I can try several other browsers [iE,
Netscape and Opera] and report back to the group.
Best regards.
How many were in the chat room? I'm trying to figure out if numbers
are an issue - probably not.
Devon,
Do you have the latest version of Java on your computer? Some in the other
chats have discovered that to be the issue. If you do I would suggest
trying another browser.
was sent a username and password which I used. When I type both in and then
hit the " connect " button, it closes my server (Firefox). Same if I hit the
" enter chat " button (the site is not very clear as to exactly what you
should do to enter chat). Maybe it's just as well, as I hear thunder and
probably should get off computer anyway (non-stop thunderstorms here for
past 2 days, record rain).
Does anyone have any suggestions? Can you not use Firefox? Anyone else
having a problem logging in?
Randall,
I also was not able to login for the MDA Chat tonight. My FireFox browser
got hung up for several minutes and then crashed when I tried to access the
login page. I am CCing this post to mdachat (AT) mdausa (DOT)
org in the hope that they may be able to
trouble-shoot the problem.
I do have Norton Internet Security 2006 that includes AntiVirus, ad
blocking, popUp options and a firewall. Both FireFox and Norton's are up to
date, and after a review of my logs, there were no rejections nor blocks
from the AntiVirus, ad blocking, popUp options and the firewall.
Before the and my session was recorded as follows:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

***2006 Jun 26 21:22 55

http: //www.mda.org/chat/chatroomlogin.aspx

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***2006 Jun 26 21:22 36
http: //albany.digi-net.com/DigiChat/DigiClasses/ChatMaster_5_1_0_1.jar
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

***2006 Jun 26 21:22 36

http: //www.mda.org/favicon.ico

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***2006 Jun 26 21:22 24
http: //www.mda.org/chat/chatroomlogin.aspx
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The program and hardware particulars are as follows:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Firefox/1.5.0.4
Norton Internet Security 2006, Version 9.1.0.33
Norton AntiVirus 2006, Version 12.2.0.13
Windows XP Professions Version 2002, SP-2 - updated
Dual Xeon 2.0 gHz Pentium 4 - L2
Ultrawide SCSI (160)
1.0 GB RAM
Dual IBM SCSI 35 GB 15,00RPM Hard Drives
Verizon 768Kbps/128Kbps DSL - WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hopefully the above data will help mdachat (AT) mdausa (DOT)

org figure out where the problem is. Are you

also running Windows XP with Norton's Internet Security? I have been able to

login to other chat sessions, and I don't think my system is the problem --

everything is running ok, BUT I don't know for sure. I may have overlooked

something.

If I can remember next week's chat, I can try several other browsers [iE,

Netscape and Opera] and report back to the group.

Best regards.

Slight correction.at one point there were nine of us in the room at once.

I've been in other MDA chats and know there is no limit on the number of

chatters in the room so I don't believe this is a problem.
