Guest guest
I have been in the same boat since my stroke and heart attack last year. The fluid retention gets " some better " for a short while and then " Boom " same thing. My cardiologist became distrubed when I was hospitalized last year when I gained five pounds ovenight. I am also on Lasix and Potassium both, I have a cyst on my kidney as well as a leaky heart valve? My weight gain is very noticable just during the day in my shoes, wedding rings of over 55 years and even though I wear slack, etc with elastic when they start to feel tight I get weighed and have gained five pounds or so in a half day?? I still have no answer from a physician as to why the Potassium and Lasix together, Dolores Laurie Fitzgerald laurie.fitzgerald@...> wrote: Hi I have been having cardiac issues for the past two months. I just got back from the cardiologist and he said that my EKG (done while there), echo (done a couple of weeks ago), blood pressure and heart rate were fine, so come back in two years. I have times when I retain 19 pounds of fluid over about a weeks time and my breathing gets so bad that I can't roll over in bed without feeling like I can't breath. It is different than my mito exercise shortness of breath. I'm hoping the nephologist will shed some light on this after he gets my test results. I do have several abnormal tests and labs. My 24 hour calcium was low as was my creatinine clearance is low (may be age related) and my ultrasound showed a mass ( probably a cyst), so I am having a kidney CT on Friday. My arterial blood gas showed a low PO2 as well. Thanks for letting me vent. laurie
Guest guest
Laurie, I should mention I also have water problem. Well after finding a Good doctor he said it was my heart. Congestive Heart Failure. I take a water pill and a potassium so it's balanced out. But ONLY WHEN I NEED IT. If I wake up in the morning and can't breath, or upset the water balance in my body, I keep a daily weight chart. Only then will I take those pills, and once my water is and weight is back to normal or close, I will stop. But what was a big help to me was I belong to a Congestive Heart Failure Clinic. And they call me regulary and check on me and so on. See if there is a clinic like that by you. --- Joanne Kocourek servedogmom@...> wrote: > Hi Laurie, > > Does misery love company!?! Guest guest
Thanks Irene. We do have such a clinic at our hospital but a doctor has to make the referrel and set the parameters, so I will keep working on this. I take a water pill which usually doesn't make any difference in retaining water or not - puzzling. I'm glad it works so well for you. laurie > > > > > > > Laurie, I should mention I also have water problem. > Well after finding a Good doctor he said it was my > heart. Congestive Heart Failure. Keep on those doctors for answers.!! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Ann-Marie frustrated Hi I have been having cardiac issues for the past two months. Guest guest
Dear Laurie, I'm sorry to hear of these difficulties. You spend so much time supporting people on this board and so little time asking for help or venting. I figure that when you do vent, you must surely need it! Please keep us posted on how you're doing. Best, Shayna Hi > > I have been having cardiac issues for the past two months. Guest guest
Thanks to all who have given me support. I sure needed it. I will keep you posted. Tomorrow is my kidney echo and then I think I have a break until the following Fri. to go get hooked up for a Holter. I will be at my younger son and daughter-in-laws house, dog sitting over the holiday and then my older son and his wife will be here mid week. I will most likely be quiet. My younger son sometimes leaves his computer so I can access the list from his house, but he may have to take it to do something for his job - don't know. I hope everyone in the US has a good holiday week-end. Stay dry, cool, and safe. laurie > > > > > > > Dear Laurie, > I'm sorry to hear of these difficulties. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, Good luck with the echo. And how long will you be wearing the holter? I had my last one for a month. What a pain that was, especially since it was in the summer, with the heat and all. Have a great time dog sitting over the Holiday and I hope you enjoy your visit with your older son and his wife mid week. We are all flooded here in Northeastern Pa. All the Bridges that connect Pennsylvania to New Jersey are closed due to the Delaware River cresting and going over its banks. It is a total mess here. The Exxon and Mc's and other places are all under water. The only good thing is that my garden is growing like crazy!! LOL!! Have a great Weekend! Hugs, Ann-Marie Re: frustrated Thanks to all who have given me support. I sure needed it. I will keep you posted.
