Chat tonight? How to log on??

Is the Mito chat on for tonight? Any suggestions on what I can do to be able to

log on (wasn't able to do so last 3 weeks). Does anyone have the email address

or phone number of someone at MDA who might be able to help figure out what the

problem is? Not looking forward to a 4th week of frustration if possible to

avoid it?

Thanks,

Randall

Here is the log-in info. Be sure to read each page as there are some

things like not closing the lobby screen.

* As many of you know by now, we have recently moved to a new chat

client called DigiChat for MDAChats . I have entered all chat hosts into

the membership database, so those of you that are hosts can log into

DigiChat using the same nickname/username and password you always have used.

The Login page is located at: http://www.mda.org/chat/chatroomlogin.aspx. If

a security warning or two pops up, just click Yes to proceed.

Kristie has been in contact with the mda chat co-ordinator about the

problems people are having.

Laurie,

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to have the email address or phone

# fro someone at MDA who can help with this? I have to presume, after

3 weeks in a row of not being able to log-on, that I will again have

problems tonight that I will not be able to resolve, as previously.

Thanks,

Randall below you will find the direction for DigiChat as written by the MDA

chat administrator. I'm involved in numerous chats and must admit thus far

you seem to be having the most problems. I'm wondering if it is a

server/software conflict. If you follow the directions below line for line

and still can't get in tonight PLEASE let me know and I will get a hold of

chat administrator again to see what we can do. She said she has been in

contact and has issued and re-issued your username and password (which BTW

is case sensitive). We will just have to keep working at it. Also please

remember that there will be a lag as the Java applet is started before you

" enter the room " .

Good luck and hope to see you chatting.

Subject: More information on MDA chat's new client - DigiChat

All:

* As many of you know by now, we have recently moved to a new chat

client called DigiChat for MDAChats . I have entered all chat hosts into

the membership database, so those of you that are hosts can log into

DigiChat using the same nickname/username and password you always have used.

The Login page is located at: http://www.mda.org/chat/chatroomlogin.aspx. If

a security warning or two pops up, just click Yes to proceed.

* " Regulars " have also been added to the membership database, so

try logging in with.the same nickname/username and password you always have

used first. If you are unable to log in, please see next paragraph please

email mdachat@... to do this and let us know what nickname/username

you would like. You will be sent a password the next day via email (or on

Monday morning if submitted over the weekend).

* MDA Chat transcripts will be downloaded every morning and placed

on the MDA Web site on the next business day following a chat (or asap). A

chat calendar can still be found at: http://www.mda.org/chat/calendar.html.

All chat times and days have remained the same.

* Your Web browser must have javascript enabled in order for you to

enter MDA chats now. If you want to check if your Web browser has

javascript enabled please go to:

http://www.buymebuyme.com/retail/help/javascript.html. These instructions

will tell you how to enable javascript in your browser.

* When you go to the login page for MDA chats

(http://www.mda.org/chat/chatroomlogin.aspx) you will not see fields for

your User Name or Password until 15 minutes before a chat is to open.

* Once you do login to MDA chats, you will automatically enter a

general room called MDA Foyer. To enter the specific chat room you want

(i.e., Positive Thinking, Living with ALS, etc.), click on the Rooms tab in

your window and you will see a list of available chat rooms on the

right-side of the window. Double-click on the chat you want to enter.

* You can change your icon, colors, font sizes, etc. in the

Settings area, so just click this button if you want to change your profile,

add an emoticon, etc.

Randall,

I too have Firefox for my browser and can't get in, but I also tried it

with Netscape and still couldn't get it. It keeps telling me I am

entering either the wrong nickname or password, but I am entering it

right off of the note from Penny. Is that what is happening to you too?

Yes, that was me (though not a she). FINALLY got in with IE, no luck with FF,

even with Javascript enabled. Don't usually use IE so took awhile and new

version.

Chat moves so fast; actually think I prefer it here, after all that!

If no one can get in chat using Firefox, that would explain things. Anyone ever

get in the new chat with FF?

Nice to know, but I will personally do without the chat if it means

having to get IE. Way too many security holes for my liking. Thanks

for the info.

Yeah, I don't use IE except in rare instances, when I need it. Tonight used the

latest version, 7.0 beta, which I guess is supposed to be safer than previous

versions and incorporates some features that Firefox has, like tabbed browsing.

From the instructions sent by MDA, supposedly, you can use Firefox, but even the

instructions didn't make sense regarding what to do to enable Javascript (though

this was enabled and still didn't work).

We have lost so many with this new digi chat. And

there is so much trouble signing on it's a shame.

New things always take time. Bit by bit, things will get worked out.

As you said last night, once in than you probably won't have problems

in the future.
