Wanda

The mito doc that I met is Dr. Thorburn at Royal Children's Hospital.

I'm not sure where that is in OZ.

Good Luck Wanda

,

Very well said and interesting. Back in May 1996 when my sister was first

diagnosed she was started on Carnitor and CoQ10, vitamin C, and Riboflavin.

She came out of a 2 week coma in late July 1996 but died in Oct 1996.

Her husband's sisternlaw and my aunt both said that the treatment came too late

as vitamins take time to build up in your system. Unfortunately her progression

was too fast for the vitamins to help. However tess did show that the

experimental drug DCA she was taking did lower her lactic acid levels.

But the DCA also comes with added seizure possibilities in additon to having to

pay out of pocket for it now. (she was given it by one of the drug companies--a

lot of red tape and waivers)

It can take months to see improvement. It also may

take combos of meds. For example, we tried riboflavin

a couple of years ago. We used it for a few months

because my son has severe migraines. We started again

last October but used it in combo with other mito

meds. I'm convinced that it's the slightly increased

dose and the combo with carnitor and CoQ10 that makes

the difference. It took several months for the

headaches to improve.
