Guest guest
The light at the end of the casts is that diaper changes with the bar are easy as pie. Just lift the bar and both legs are in control! jagrindon jagrindon@...> wrote: , Welcome to the group. We had this great tape that our Dr. gave us, it is kind of cushy, a very thin foam tape that is not too sticky. This was wrapped around the top of the cast and baby's thigh to prevent messes in or on the cast. Then if the tape got messy we just pulled it off (doesn't stick a lot to baby's skin) and put on new tape. I would think that most places that do casting would have this. It only took me a couple days to get used to changing diapers w/ the cast, it was a comedy of errors the first few days, trying to figure out about diapering a boy (that little fountain got me several times) and keeping the cast out of the mess, but it gets to be a piece of cake really quickly. Like Kori mentioned, it is really easy to take the bar on and off the shoes if you have the gold bar. We have even been able to use an exersaucer with this method -- a little awkward getting down on the floor to put the screw back on but our little guy loves being in this upright position. Have you found a Doctor yet? Everyone in the group will be glad to put in their two cents to tell you about which docs are the best. Best of luck and keep us posted. > > > Hi, > > We recently learned that our baby, due in July, has a unilateral > clubfoot. Guest guest
We also used socks. I could never find ones that fit properly so I just cut the top off to make a “band†and put that around the top part of the cast. It worked great! Also, we have used the baby bjorn alot and have never had a problem with it. Our son loves it! How difficult is it to diaper a baby with the cast on to the hip? Diaper changing isn’t that much different in the casts then with out. Is it common for any mess to end up down the cast and do you have any tips on how to avoid this? I didn’t have much problems with this but we always used toddler sized socks that went over the cast and we tucked the top of the sock into the top of the cast. From reading some other messages, it doesn't seem like a carseat will be a problem, but what do you all use for a highchair/bouncy seat that works with the brace? Just make sure you can take to tray off. Here is a website with some other tricks. http://ponseticlubfoot.freeservers.com/hints.html hth,
Guest guest
When I tried them they did get the tops of the casts a bit messy but not all the time. That BF poo does travel you know. So I just went with disposables. I use the Chinese Prefolds with the ProWrap or DiaperWrap wraps. Not all diapers did that, but you know how the wrap can get a little wet if baby is peeing a lot? I didn't want that making her cast wet either. Also, after 3 babies I've decided that I am not terribly interested in washing newborn cloth diapers anymore. And with baby in casts I just felt during the casting period life was easier with disposables. If you've got good prefolds or fitted diapers and they don't leak at all or get moist, go for it. Guest guest
, I have used cloth on all five of my babies. My number five was born rt. cf. We casted for about 7 months (wrong doc to start and all that). I didn't notice too many problems with them- we used both fitted and flat cause I have some of both. Just fold the flat ones well to fit the baby. I recommend a diaper cover that is one piece not the snap around the waist kind. They seem to keep everything contained a bit better. I also liked to cover the cast with a big sock (specially at diaper change time) to kind of control the mess. But my son wasn't much of a explosive pooper (some of the other have been though). Everyone has their opinion and no one is wrong. Try it. If you don't like it, switch. If you are a cloth fanatic, chances are you will work out a way thats just right for you. Hi- My baby is due in June and I was about to order a bunch of cloth diapers...why do you not recommend cloth diapers for use with the casts? Too messy? Or is it just the flat prefold diapers don't hold the mess well enough? Would fitted diapers make a difference? Sorry, I'm just a cloth fanatic... > baby. There's really no avoiding it.
