Guest guest
I pumped for 3.5 weeks.. and dried up. Noah wouldn't latch on... and the LC's were complete Biotches.... I had a preemie baby who would barely suck from a cris cross cut nipple... When I stopped pumping.. I got a HUGE guilt trip from the LC's.... Noah has only been sick 1x 2 months ago.. and was FF. He did get BM for the first 3.5 weeks. This time.. I will attempt BF if I go FT.. if not.. I will pump for a few weeks If I have a preemie and FF after that. I refuse to make myself nuts over it all.. FWIW.. my breasts are normally a G cup WITHOUT milk... it is awkword and difficult to manage.. Guest guest
Sheila, I am neither pro nor con when it comes to breastfeeding. I tried with my daughter over 10 years ago but didn't produce enough milk so I continued with formula. I was okay with it and will formula feed this little one. I hope this helps. Guest guest
With my first I pumped for 3 months I could not get him to latch on and the stress of it all was to much, With my second I nursed for 2 years and with this one I will breastfeed as long as the baby will latch on Michele -- Re: Breastfeeding POST WLS- mini-poll I formula fed because I chose too -- my daughter was so tiny -- I mean she looked so tiny and my breast was so big (bigger than her entire head) that I was truthfully terrified of trying to breastfeed. If I am lucky enough to get pregnant again and deliver I will breastfeed or make more of an honest attempt at it. Ferguson Rasley mailto:dferguson@... She weaned when I got pregnant with my son, 5 months postop. My youngest baby is only 20 months old...and I exclusively nursed him with absolutely no problems. As for how long I nursed him...he's still a nursling, so I will let you know when he's no longer nursing. My weight loss surgeon..have no idea what he'd say about it. I haven't spoken to him since a few months postop and he had nothing to do with my pregnancy or anything after the first few months. I don't have an OB....but as for my midwife...I don't know, it just never was a question. I mean...*shrug* it was sort of a given that I " d nurse - and nope, never had any problems. Guest guest
I feel the same . I didn't breastfeed my post-op baby for different reasons though. I got pg at only 7 weeks post RNY, on top of that I suffered from horrible morning sickness the entire 39 weeks of my pregnancy (as in my pre-op pregnancy as well.) By the time I delivered I was so fatigue-stricken, and malnourished..I honestly didn't think my body could tolerate breastfeeding. (I lost 91 lbs during my pregnancy) So, I opted to formula feed. When I have another baby, I really hope to atleast try and breastfeed. Guest guest
I have no information to offer about breastfeeding after WLS. I think it will be somewhat the same as breastfeeding before WLS..........keep hydrated, take good care of me, and relax and everything should be okay. Just my 2 cents....
