I have such horrible gas pains.. it feels like labor.. :)

If you are early enough... a miscarriage will be like a heavier then normal

period.

However.. one can spot and bleed a little bit.. yet the uterus will not expel

the fetal tissue.. requiring a D & C.

When I miscarried at 14 weeks.. I had a mild cramp and then bled out

horribly...I wasn't in pain until they gave me Pitocin to stop the hemmorage.

HCG hormone will remain in your body for up to 2 weeks... still showing a

positive pg test.

Some women do bleed a little bit in early pg and go on to have a healthy and

viable pg.

Your best bet is to take it easy and rest until you can get to the Dr and

they will do an US to see what is going on.

But.. if you should bleed heavily.. soaking 2 or 3 pads in an hour... go to

the ER!!

I hope everything works out for you!!!

Even shortly after a miscarriage you can still have the hormone

levels to show up pregnant in a urine test. I did - they did the

ultrasound and by that time there wasn't any fetal matter left but I

was still showing pregnant in the urine test. That was many years ago

and 12 weeks pg. for me. Please go to a doctor or clinic ASAP and get

checked out. - Diane

Sherry,

I would say that *if* you are miscarrying, you haven't miscarried

yet. As you know, everyone's pain threshold is different, but the

majority of women have very uncomfortable cramping with the passage

of clots and grayish matter (the embryo). There are a ton of various

classifications of miscarriage (threatened, habitual, missed,

complete, incomplete etc etc etc), but it doesn't sound to me as if

you have miscarried the products of conception yet.

Some require a D&C, others pass on their own, but I've yet to hear

of anyone having a painless or bloodless M/C.

From personal experience, I wouldn't consent to a D&C before you

pass alot of tissue b/c many OB providers have scheduled D&C's and

for whatever reason the mother didn't have it done and ended up

delivering healthy babies. I was in the midst of being scheduled for

an ectopic removal, when I refused it, the Dr seemed " put out " at

first because " nurses are the worst patients blah blah blah "

but in the end, I delivered a 6# 9oz " tubal " at 36 weeks! lol

Hang in there.... and let nature take its course.

I just had a miscarriage this past week and my experience did not

include pain or blood. I had experienced some mild cramping, but

nothing like having a period and there was no blood at all. It turns

out that the baby probably died in the 7th or 8th week, but I didn't

find out until I went to the OB at 10.5 weeks and the ultrasound

showed that there was no heartbeat and the baby was too small for the

age. I went in for a D&C the next day.

I sure hope that you're not having a miscarriage. I mean, a lot of

people experience bleeding during this time from the implantation. I

hear that it can also cause cramping. I just wanted you to know my

personal experience because it happens differently for everyone. (As

everyone else has said.) But taking a pregnancy test won't tell you

anything. The only way to know what's really going on is through and

ultrasound.

Good luck! -Alison

Alison,

I am glad you didn't have the pain or bleeding associated with the

miscarriage and passage of products of conception. Since you had a

D&C, you most likely avoided the blood and pain usually caused by the

embryo passing through your cervix. I wish you the best in future

babymaking. I am still trying to decide if 38 is personally too old

for me to have another baby (or 39). I'm not as healthy, energetic or

adventurous as some of our 40+ pg mommies in here! lol

:)

Sherry,

I had a miscarriage last September at 9 weeks but i didn't know that I was

having one until I started passing everything then you will know for sure as it

is so painful. If you feel okay then I would wait until you see your doctor but

if the pains gets too intense then I would got to the ER. If you take another

test, it will probably still say you are pregnant since you probably still have

the hormones in your body. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

You may not be having a miscarraige. You can still be bleeding and stay

pregnant. I bled with ALL my pregnancies including the one I am 30 weeks for

now. I

have had 2 miscarraiges too and bled like a period with those but i also had

a full weeks period when I was pregnant with my twins and never knew I was

pregnant. Breakthrough bleeding is quite common so I would call your OB and ask

about getting in sooner. Taking another pg test does not mean anything cause

even if it was a MC your hormones are still not back to normal and may still

show a positive result. you OB should give you a blood test with a repeat in 2

days to see if the numbers are increasing. They should double every 2 days but

do not have to double exactly. Good Luck, I pray everything is okay.
