Guest guest
Wow! That's quite a recommendation! I've got United Healthcare, and its a PPO plan, so getting a doctor out of network shouldn't be a problem. I would though love to see your letter, any help I can get is wonderful. I live in San , so I'm only about 45 minutes from Pleasanton. I sent Dr. Colborn and email this morning and hope to hear from him soon. It would be very nice to meet him before my baby is born. Just getting these details in place will let the rest of my pregnancy be even more peaceful. > e live in Southern California and drive or fly to see Dr. Colborn. > He is truly the best on the west coast. Guest guest
I would also chime in that Dr Colburn is awsome! Our son has been treated by Dr Mosca in Seattle and Dr Ponseti, but when I was trying to get information about atypical clubfoot - at the time very little was know about it - Dr Colburn was the ONLY doctor (outside of the above-mentioned, of course) that replied to me, and he was actually very familiar with the condition! He gave me all the info he knew on it, told me his thoughts on the cause, and sent me instructions for stretching excercises to help prevent relapse and promote correction. At that time he actually knew more about it than Dr Ponseti and was successfully treating it in 3 patients. Dr Ponseti considers puts him on the short, short list of best possible/most experienced doctor to see in the world. Having said all that, if money is a consideration, by all means go to Shriners, and know that if you run into any kinks in treatment you have one of the best of the best available if necessary. He is truly the best on the west coast. Dr. Ponsetti's wife is the one that told me this in August of 2002. We don't have Kaiser and still see Dr. C with no problem. We pay up front with a check and our insurance reimburses us. Getting insurance to approve it can be challenging, but can be done. I've got a letter that I wrote to my insurance that I can email you if you decide to see Dr. Colborn. We have Blue Cross, who do you have??? We saw two doctors (one was certified by Ponseti) before we found Dr. Colborn. I was a constant wreck with the other two doctors, the first didn't believe in the Ponsetti Method and the second said he followed the protocol to a " T " and actually didn't. Getting to talk to them in person between appointments was impossible. Dr. Colborn will talk with you by phone before you even have your baby. He talked to me for 45 minutes on his day off when we had a concern and our Ponsetti Doctor at the time wouldn't even return our call. To make a long story short we never went back to the other doctor and went straight to Dr. C. It was truly the best decision we ever made and saved me many months of concern. Guest guest
Nicki- Thank you so much for this information! I have a call into Dr. Colburn right now. He's in the operating room right now, so tomorrow I'm to expect a call from him. I think I need to call my insurance company now and see how I can get them to reimburse me. The overall cost isn't too much, but it would be nice to have it defrayed by insurance. I'll email you offline...sounds like we are at just the same point in things. My baby being due 6/7... we'll be seeing Dr. Colburn right around the same time I imagine... - > > I was impressed with Dr. Colburn's compassion in his immediate reply > and was feeling infinitely better about the road ahead after hearing > from him. Thanks to all you other Colburn patients for your ringing > endorsements -- that gives us even MORE comfort and confidence! >
