Guest guest
I have question. Does ptosis get gradually worse over time? Both eyelids have ptosis and I've noticed my left eyelid is covering my vision more than months ago. Any suggestions? Can ptosis get better on its own? Can ptosis act up worse when sick? Thanks in advance... Ann
Guest guest
Personally, my ptosis comes and goes, varies a lot from day to day and even within a day. Always worse first thing in the morning, for example. Left eye droops a lot more when I have a left-sided migraine. It does correlate with other general groups of symptoms and gets worse and better with those. I think it's different for different people. Generally mine is mild and doesn't interfere significantly with range of vision. People just think I look sleepy. Barbara > Question regarding ptosis > > I have question. Guest guest
My ptosis started in my teens and all the boys said I had bedroom eyes. I'm 56 now and they don't say that anymore.... : [ I had surgery about 10 yrs ago as it was getting hard to see and the doc took out miles of lid, but now one is noticeably worse than the other and once again interfering with vision. In fact that's how I recently found out I had mito (I always thought the ptosis was to do with hypothyroidism which I had since I was 13) - a dr sent me to a specialist ophthalmologist to see about raising the droopy lid again and he thought the eye behaved strangely so sent me to a big hospital here in Sydney to another group of eye specialists to check it out as he thought it might be myasthenia gravis. They looked at the back of the eye and found retinal pigmentation they said was either myasthenia or this strange thing I had never heard of mitochondrial cytopathy, then put a bag of ice on the eye for 30 mins and looked at it again and excluded myasthenia, that left me with mito (then onto muscle biopsy etc ). In my case the ptosis has gotten worse over all these years, but slowly. I don't know if the droopy one has anything to do with the changes in the back of that eye though. I don't notice it's worse at any particular time. Pam Question regarding ptosis > > I have question. Does ptosis get gradually worse over time?
