Big hugs to you for all you're going through! Chrystal Wife to Jace - together 6 Years! Happy Mommy to - 4 Years Old! New Baby Boy Swenson Due July 28, 2004! Zookeeper for 2 big dogs and 5 cats who let me feed them! http://chrystallife.50megs.com/ http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/seeswensonauctions/ Really scared, need some prayers Hi Everyone, I went in for a routine ultrasound on Monday, just to check baby's growth since I am not showing much. Well, what I thought was routine ended up me being admitted for observation. My baby girl is measuring 2 weeks behind, she's in the 11th percentile for her age. The dr who looked at my ultrasound notated what he thought to be 1/3 of my placenta being seperated from the uterus. They tell me to go directly downstairs to my OB, he wants to see me. Well, he was very up front with me. He told me he needed to consult the high risk OB's and he wanted to have me sent to labor and deliver for observation. He had no idea what even the next 24 hours had in store for me. I was frightened, but not enough to cry. I really didn't know what was going on or what they were trying to tell me. He discussed my case with several drs and they were perplexed. Apparently, if my placenta was 1/3 detached, I should have had severe bleeding and cramping. My baby should have been in some kind of distress, not with a very strong heartbeat and high activity level. So, he started me on fetal monitoring for several hours and even started me on the beta methazone shots to get her lungs to mature quicker in case we have to deliver her early. I am only 29 weeks along. So naturally I am really worried that now I won't make it full term. I was in the hospital over night. I had the 2nd beta methazone shot and my dr came to tell me that he discussed my case with the head of the hospital and the top ultrasound dr. The ultrasound dr agreed to preform another ultrasound himself to see this with his own eyes. So back down to imaging I went. The test looked entirely different than it had Monday. They suspect that possibly my uterus was contracting in that region, which is normal for me not to feel it so they say, to all the vessels were contracted making it appear as though no blood flow was going through that entire region of the uterus and placenta. The dr still notes that she is small for age, but does not indicate any placental seperation. So good news, I guess. My OB is watching me very closely. I have to go twice a week for fetal non stress tests and once a week for ultrasounds. He wants to monitor her and monitor her growth. If she isn't growing enough, I guess I will have to have her early. I am supposed to monitor her activity and call if anything changes. I am really paranoid now. I am very glad that he is watching me this closely, but I am going to be a nervous wreck. All I can do is just pray that God will take care of us and that what happened earlier this week is all in preperation. I really do feel fine physically, I have all along. I am just super paranoid about how she is doing. To top it all off, I braved the GTT, and guess what, my OB says my sugar is slightly elevated!! Just my luck, now I have to take the 3 hour glucola....yippee!! They were checking my blood sugar constantly while I was in for observation...it was never high. Oh well, at this point, I will do anything to assure that the next 11 weeks go as smoothly as possible and that my baby is born healthy. Even if it means that I have to get sick. Thanks for listening, this is such a wonderful group of caring people. Lots of Love, Beverly Pittsburgh, PA RNY 4/10/02 335-------145 First Baby!! Guest guest
I am sure you are very scared and you and your baby girl are in my prayers. Just try to rest and keep her in there as long as possible. Thank God that now a days even if she were to be born now, she will probably be okay, just have to stay in the hospital. But I am betting hse stayes in there awhile yet since that ultrasound looked sssoo diferent the second time around. i think they have you scared for nothing, I think everything is going to be just fine for you both. Try to enjoy the remainder of your pregnancy, I know it will be hard though. God Bless, Robin, NorthEastern, NY EDD- July 27th, 2004 IT'S A BOY!!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Beverly, You and your sweet baby girl are definitly in my prayers. It's scary enough at times to go through pregnancy for the first time and then to have some problems along with it must make it so hard. I'm sorry you're having to go through this and have that stress. God's going to take good care of you and your baby. I'll be praying for the Dr.'s that take care of you too and that they will find out exactly what's up and will be able to correct any problems. Thank goodness we now have such good technology in this day and age to take care of babies if they are born prematurely, but I'll be praying that you carry her safely, full term. Keep us all updated on anything that goes on. Love, Tonya Gist
Guest guest
Oh Beverly, What an ordeal you went through and I would have been scared stiff. You did a great job holding it together! I am pleased to hear that your OB was going to the limits to find other people to consult about your case instead of just trying to answer all of the questions himself/herself. It means a lot when they really have your interest at heart. It sounds like you have a very good doctor. I will be praying for you and your little girl. I know you were terrified but I'm so glad the second ultrasound turned out well. I will keep you in my prayers and please keep us all updated on your situation. What is involved in the stress test that you have to do each week???
